Curator’s statement
Tulum is one of my favorite places to visit. It's a location that manages to have it all, wellness, nightlife, great music, culinary experiences, beautiful weather and people. You can choose your own adventure in Tulum and that's what makes it special. Wellness lovers will rejoice at the plethora of yoga, spa and delicious healthy eats in this area. Alternatively, partygoers will find no shortage of vibey spots and fun nightlife. If you're like me, you like a little bit of both and to connect with some of the incredible locals that keep the hospitality industry afloat. Plus, with the new Tulum airport opening it'll be easier than ever to get to this gem of a destination.

Things to do in Tulum
Clock in several hours on the beach. Lay out at your hotel or hit the public beach where you can easily rent a day bed with a minimum you can spend on lunch or drinks. Nomade, Panamera, Ikal, and Pocna would be my suggestions but there's plenty to choose from.
Take a yoga class on the beach at Ikal & then stay for lunch or lounging in the sun. If Yoga on the beach is not your thing you can find some great classes at Holistika. Stay for a vegan lunch you won't know is vegan.
Hit the Spa. There are many great spas around Tulum and they're not just at the hotels. For a more premium experience try Habitas or Nomade, for a cheaper but equally great spa experience try Qifullness.
Dance on the beach at Habitas' sunday day party. Envision the sun shining, a magic carpet on the sand and a great crowd dancing to the DJ from 1-6 p.m. You can sign up ahead of time on the Habitas Instagram to attend. Pro tip, get the passionfruit mezcalita.
Spend the day at a cenote. Tulum is filled with incredible cenotes- or underground natural pools. While some you can do a full day tour with swimming, others are more for relaxation. Vesica is essentially a pool club but at a Cenote, where you can swim, listen to music, and order food and drinks with friends.
If you're trying to have a big night out go to Papaya Playa Project for one of their DJ shows. The venue is right on the beach so even when it invveitibly gets crowded you have the sounds of the ocean and the breeze to make this a much more enjoyable experience.
On Monday nights hit La Pizzine for a DJ set and some great cocktails on their rooftop.

Places to eat & drink in Tulum
On the beach side:
Arca: This is your splurge meal and it's absolutely worth it. Innovative dishes with exceptional flavors and of course a vibe makes this one of the best spots in Tulum. Pro tip, order the soft shell crab tacos, the prawns and the housemade bread.
Wild: Wild does some really beautiful things with food. The food almost imitates art at this more high end dining establishment. Grab a drink at their bar while you wait for a table for a la carte or tasting.
Habitas Tulum: Dinner at El Morro is a lovely experience. The food is fantastic and the ocean breeze is unbeatable.
Treehouse: This hidden venue makes you feel more like you're at a private villa party only the cool kids know about. With different menus each time you arrive no experience will be the same. Reservations required as this venue turns into a party after dinner.
Off the beach:
Don't be afraid to leave the beach and explore. This is where you will find great establishments serving up fabulous food and avoid some of those touristy prices.
Kokoro: This is a hidden gem with fantastic sushi in Aldea Zama area IYKYK. Come hungry, order the omakase or platters of Nigiri.
Burrito Amor: You will inevitably find yourself either hungover or in desperate need of a burrito while in Tulum. Burrito Amor is the answer, delicious burritos in a laidback restaurant with elixirs for "health."
La Negra Tomasa: Casual seafood joint with occasional live music. Come for the ceviche and tuna toastadas stay for the spicy margs.
Mestixa: Elevated asian Mexican fusion food. Order the skirt steak bowl and the mushroom bao buns. If you're still hungry the tacos trucks across the street are a great spot for some local fare at about $1 a pop.
