Curator’s statement

Pittsburgh is an amazing city to visit if you want to remain in the US. It's even better if you are staying in the downtown area. You are not far from local eateries or the famous O'Reilly Theater if you're looking to catch a show, or if you want to see a great view of the city, you're welcome to hop on the Duquesne Incline, where you'll get a panoramic view of Pittsburgh, the Steelers Stadium and the three famous bridges. Pittsburgh allows you to mingle with the locals and enjoy the history! I would reserve this for family as there plenty of activities for all ages.

Things to do in Pittsburgh

Red brick building with board stating August Wilson House.

If you're a lover of history, the August Wilson House should definitely be on your list to learn about the famous playwright known for some wonderful work, one being "Fences."

Why not visit the Steelers Stadium while you're there? Did I mention that in 2026, Pittsburgh will be the home of the 2026 NFL draft? Now, that will be an experience of a lifetime!

Now, for another history tour, let's visit the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, which is family-friendly, of course.

The Duquesne Incline is an icon in Pittsburgh. And if you want to make this tour magical, visit either in the morning hours when you're able to see the sunrise or at night when the city is dazzling with lights. You can purchase tickets there, but only cash is accepted.

The Andy Warhol Museum is by far my favorite! Who doesn't love art?

Seeing that spring and summer are in full swing, visit the Pittsburgh Botanic Gardens for pictures and the smell of fresh flowers. It was exciting to see all of the beautiful flowers in full bloom! All ages are welcome.

I love a good show! While in Pittsburgh, I had the chance to see an amazing play titled "The Coffin Maker." Catch a show or two while in Pittsburgh and head to the famous O'Reilly Theater.

Each year, from the end of May to the beginning of June, Pittsburgh holds its annual Three Rivers Arts Festival.

Day trips

If you're in Pittsburgh, definitely make the day trip to Niagara Falls! While you're there, why not walk over to Canada. Be prepared to show your passport and pay your dollar upon entry to the US.

If you're feeling adventurous when you've crossed the border, you can also drive to Ontario, Canada, which is about an hour and 30 minutes from Niagara Falls.

Places to eat & drink in Pittsburgh

A colorful table with chips and a Mexican beer.

Because I am vegan and a lover of Indian food, Tikka 'N' Wrapz was my favorite food spot. I love anything curry.

Pittsburgh is known for Primanti Bros! Make sure you get a good serving of fries on your sandwich.

Looking to satisfy a sweet tooth? Try Millie's Homemade Ice Cream! I kid you not, the key lime flavor is the best! I added sprinkles to mine because I was feeling a little fancy.

I love kimchi and couldn't help myself when I found out K-Town Snack Bar on Oakland Ave sold it. I would consider this college town because it is located not too far from the University of Pittsburgh. They are also known for their different corn dog styles.

Visit Pittsburgh's oldest brewery, Penn Brewery, for good food and authentic drafts.

If you're heading for a little getaway with girlfriends, Ritual House is the ultimate spot, with its decor, chill vibes, good food and happy hour. I would recommend the fried green tomatoes if you have a touch of Southern in you and their Patio Punch.

Mexican is one of my favorite foods, outside of Indian. So when I spotted Viva Los Tacos, I was elated! The grilled cauliflower taco was worth it. I mean, chef's kiss! They do serve meat options as well, in addition to their happy hour and midnight drink specials.

I did not have a chance to grab a bite at Niagara Falls, but a lot of locals recommended Top of the Falls for the fish and chips, as well as the views!
