Curator’s statement
The Magic Kingdom holds so many memories for me from my time working there as a Disney College Program intern, specifically at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. Spending so much time in this iconic park meant I got to know every corner and experience it in a way most people don’t. It’s easy to see why this park is considered the quintessential Disney experience. Its magical, nostalgic atmosphere always felt special, and getting to try new restaurants was a huge treat. Even now, I look back on my Disney College Program with such fondness — it’s truly an unforgettable chapter in my life.

Things to do in Orlando
Shopping:
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique: This is the ultimate dream spot for little ones who want a magical princess makeover. Your fairy godmothers (in training) will transform them into their favorite Disney princess with costumes, hair styling and a sprinkle of fairy dust. Just make sure to book in advance because this experience is super popular!
Emporium: Located right on Main Street, the Emporium is the go-to for all your Disney souvenirs. From plushes and T-shirts to hats and mugs, they’ve got it all. This is the biggest shop in the park, so if you want a one-stop spot for gifts, this is your place.
Main Street Bakery: Not only can you grab your Starbucks fix here, but you’ll also find some exclusive Disney-branded Starbucks merch. Perfect for Starbucks and Disney fans alike, with cute mugs and tumblers that make great souvenirs.
Ye Olde Christmas Shop: Christmas magic is alive year-round in this festive shop filled with ornaments, holiday decor and seasonal souvenirs. It’s a cozy little spot to get in the holiday spirit any time of year, with some adorable Disney-themed ornaments you won’t want to miss.
Star Traders: Over in Tomorrowland, Star Traders is a solid souvenir spot if you’re looking for something with a futuristic or spacey feel. With lots of classic Disney merch and some Tomorrowland-themed items, it’s a great spot for grabbing a quick gift after Space Mountain.
Hundred Acre Goods: Winnie the Pooh fans, this ones for you! Right near the Pooh ride, this adorable shop has all the Hundred Acre Wood-themed goodies you could want, from plushes to t-shirts to honey-inspired treats.
Places to eat & drink in Orlando
Table service:
Be Our Guest Restaurant: The vibe at this restaurant is unreal — it genuinely feels like stepping into the Beauty and the Beast castle! It features three different rooms — the elegant Grand Ballroom, the dark and mysterious West Wing and the bright and romantic Rose Gallery. It’s a pricier option with a prix-fixe menu at $72 per adult and $43 per child, but it’s such a unique experience. Don’t miss the “grey stuff” for dessert (it really is delicious). Definitely book this one early since it’s one of the most popular dining spots in Magic Kingdom!
Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen: For a fun twist, this Jungle Cruise-themed restaurant combines African, Asian and Latin-inspired dishes with plenty of laughs! The servers keep the adventure alive with their signature “skipper” humor, making it a great mid-tier option for a unique and memorable meal.
The Plaza Restaurant: This cute spot at the end of Main Street has a cozy, classic American menu with sandwiches, burgers and some awesome milkshakes. Plus, it’s one of the more budget-friendly table-service places in Magic Kingdom, with entrees under $27.
Character dining:
Cinderella’s Royal Table: Dining inside Cinderella’s Castle is a truly special experience, complete with chances to meet Disney princesses in an iconic setting. Reservations are in high demand, so plan well ahead! This is one of the pricier dining options in the Magic Kingdom. A prix-fixe menu with breakfast, lunch and dinner available — making it best for those ready to splurge on a memorable, fairytale-like experience.
The Crystal Palace: This cheery spot is a must for Winnie the Pooh fans. Offering a character buffet for breakfast, lunch or dinner where you can meet Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore. I came for breakfast, and it was such a fun place to start the day!
Quick service:
The Friar’s Nook: I’m a fan of this spot in Fantasyland for a quick lunch bite — particularly their loaded tater tots! For a sweet treat, you can also find Tiana’s beignets here.
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn: If you’re craving nachos, this is your spot! It’s a fun, casual Tex-Mex place in Frontierland that has some good, filling options and lots of seating.
Columbia Harbour House: This is a cozy, often overlooked spot serving up seafood classics like fried shrimp, clam chowder and lobster rolls. The food is solid for a quick-service restaurant. The best part is the two-story seating area with tons of indoor space, giving you a relaxing break from the heat and crowds. Try to snag a table upstairs for a quieter, tucked-away spot with nice views!
Sleepy Hollow: This is a great option for a quick breakfast with Mickey waffles! It’s fast, tasty and right in the heart of the park.
Main Street Bakery: Classic spot for Starbucks coffee and Disney-themed treats to fuel your day.
Snacks:
Aloha Isle: You can’t leave Magic Kingdom without trying a Dole Whip! My go-to is the vanilla and pineapple swirl soft serve — it’s refreshing and delicious.
Cheshire Cafe: Perfect little spot for something sweet. They’re known for their Cheshire Cat Tail pastry!
Plaza Ice Cream Parlor: If you’re craving some traditional ice cream, this place has it! Great spot to grab a scoop and chill for a bit.
Sunshine Tree Terrace: The Citrus Swirl soft serve here is so good — it gives Dole Whip a run for its money!
Gaston's Tavern: Can’t get a reservation at Be Our Guest? Head here for a Grey Stuff cupcake and giant cinnamon rolls. LeFou’s Brew, a frozen apple slush with a hint of marshmallow, is also a unique, non-alcoholic treat you won’t find elsewhere!
Main Street Confectionery: This is the ultimate spot for a sweet fix right on Main Street! You’ll find everything from colorful candy apples and Mickey-shaped treats to cookies, fudge and endless varieties of fresh popcorn.
