Curator’s statement

Tucked in the heart of Tuscany, Florence offers a truly authentic Italian experience. Boasting some of the world's most incredible art and a culinary experience that gives Rome a run for its money, Florence seems hand-made for the indulgent traveler. Between its charming size and walkability, world-class shopping set against Tuscan vineyards, and the abundance of gelato spots, Florence will always be at the top of my recommendation list.

  • Bring a bottle of wine to Piazzale Michelangelo to watch the sunset.

  • Walk through Boboli Gardens for the most beautiful views of the city and incredible gardens.

  • Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella: Beautiful pharmacy with luxury skin care and perfumes.

  • Rooftop yoga: Great way to relax with views of the Duomo.

  • Celeste Vintage: you can find many vintage designer pieces here.

  • Melrose Vintage: Big thrift store with funky vibes.

  • Uffizi Gallery: Can see the Birth of Venus, art from Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael.

  • Pitti Palace: Museum at the base of the Boboli Garden. Many paintings and sculptures, art by Raphael here as well.

  • Shop for gold on the Ponte Vecchio: Beautiful bridge that is known for its gold jewelry shops. You can find traditional gold and silver at negotiable prices.

  • Take a cooking class (for obvious reasons) at Mama Florence and the art of pasta.

  • Visit Scuola del Cuoio to see how leather is made and buy the highest quality leather goods. You can also custom make a belt with your preferred band, buckle and initials, which is a great souvenir or present. Scuola del Cuoio is the leading academy for bespoke leather bags and accessories.

  • Walk through Giardino Bardini for another beautiful, vast garden.

Day Trips

  • Day trip to San Gimignano. Go try the world champion gelato at Gelateria Dondoli and walk around the cute town. Then go to Chianti for wine and olive oil tasting. Be sure to get some cold pressed olive oil to bring home!

  • Day trip to Cinque Terre. This is the setting for the Disney movie Luca. Cinque Terre is made up of 5 colorful cliffside villages. Many choose to hike between each town but can also choose to relax in just one for an aperitif and stroll. Worth a visit for stunning views and trofie which is the local pasta.

Pro Tip: Add the Florence Taxi number to your phone contact list. The number is +39 055 4390. Taxis take between 1-5 minutes to come and are the easiest way to get around the city for longer distances or if you don't feel like walking.
