Need to know
Transportation is a key thing to think about before you arrive on Corsica. Renting a car is the easiest way to ensure you have the transportation you will need. However, make sure you consider parking based on where you are staying and where you plan to visit as it is at a premium. Especially during the peak months of July and August. Taxis are another option, but they book up fast. Plan to work with your hotel to arrange the transportation you need well in advance of your visit to ensure you can see everything you have on your list!
There are multiple ways to get to Corsica and Porto-Vecchio — flying or taking the ferry. Flying is the fastest way to reach Corsica. Direct flights from major European cities land at one of the island's four main airports. Figari airport being the closest to Porto-Vecchio.
Ferries to Corsica operate from several ports in mainland France and Italy and take between 4–7 hours. For an overnight journey, there are cabins available, making it convenient to sleep on board.
