Expert advice from people who’ve actually been there

Where to stay

Day 1: Check Out the Views

A park with river and Sydney opera house in the background.

Settle in to your Sydney hotel room before hitting the town. If the sun's still high in the sky, take a walk through the Royal Botanical Garden and view The Opera House. For a bonus, head over to Mrs. Macquarie's Chair for lovely pictures of the harboor, or take a private catamaran tour accompanied by champagne.

Day 2: Bondi Beach

People enjoying on a beach with clear blue water and white sand.

Wake up bright an dearly, have breakfast and make your way to the coast! If it's your first time in Sydney, cover the essential Bondi Beach. For a more secluded spot, you can visit Milk Beach in Vaucluse or take a ferry to Manly and explore their collection of beaches. I recommend Collins Flat Beach inside Sydney Harbor National Park. It even has a waterfall!

Day 3: Blue Mountains

Beautiful scenic view of green mountains and white fluffy clouds

Via car or a guided tour, visit the Blue Mountains west of the city. See The Three Sisters, hike to Wentworth Falls and breathe in the Eucalyptus from the trees. If you want to extend your stay here, The Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains or the One&Only Wolgan Valley are both excellent choices.

Day 4: Explore the Lesser-Known Side of Sydney

There's still plenty to do in Sydney! Shop until you drop at The Strand Arcade, look at adorable wildlife at Taronga Zoo, eat at the famous Grounds of Alexandria cafe or have a picnic at one of the city's parks. I recommend Wendy Whiteley's Secret Garden for a magical spot to eat and relax with your new spouse. No matter what you do, there's an option that will meet your mood.

Day 5: Lord Howe Island

Blue sea with green grassy land and rocks and a beach in front.

Today you leave Sydney for gorgeous Lord Howe Island! After a short flight, arrive at your accommodation, and explore the island at your own pace whether it's getting a meal, strolling the beach, making an appointment for a couple's spa treatment or watching the sunset.

Overview of Additional Days

Kangaroo crossing the street in Australia.

Spend the next few days luxuriating in beach paradise swimming, hiking, sunbathing and complete relaxation together. From here, you're free to head back to Sydney on the way home or tack on other parts of Australia such as Tasmania and Queensland. They're just on your doorstep!
