Curator’s statement
We landed in Athens a day before boarding our Virgin Voyages cruise and took an e-bike tour to explore the city and fight off jet lag. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Athens is dotted with small neighborhoods, each offering unique cultures and attractions. We stayed in the Plaka area, which was vibrant with nightlife and great restaurants.

Things to do in Athens
We landed in Athens around 10 am local time. After about 18 hours of traveling, I decided the best way to fight jet lag was to get on an e-bike tour nearly right away. We left our luggage at the apartment we’d be checking into later in the day, changed quickly and went on our way.
Go see the Acropolis
Visit the Parthenon
Have a freddo cappuccino or espresso! Their local and delicious cold coffee
Panathenaic Stadium! Get there before sundown and take a lap around the track for yourself!
Experience the unique changing of the guards at the Presidential Mansion
Explore the charming neighborhoods like Plaka and Thiseio
Places to eat & drink in Athens
We had dinner in the heart of Plaka at Anafiotika Cafe Restaurant. It was delicious!
Xenious Zeus
Restaurant Scholarhio
Anefani
Athinia the Grill
Souvlaki (great gyros and souvlaki!)
