Curator’s statement

The Oasis of the Seas is an extraordinary cruise ship that redefines the concept of luxury and innovation on the high seas. This class of ships was the first to introduce the neighborhood concept. The ship is divided into distinct neighborhoods, each offering its own unique atmosphere and amenities. Central Park is a lush, open-air garden with tropical foliage, winding pathways and upscale dining venues. The Boardwalk is a vibrant entertainment zone inspired by seaside amusement parks, featuring a carousel, arcade games and family-friendly eateries. The Royal Promenade is a bustling thoroughfare lined with shops, bars and restaurants, reminiscent of a vibrant city street.

Things to do in Royal Caribbean

Sea view from the ship

With a ship of this size, it is important to follow a few tips to make sure your cruise is smooth sailing!

  • Download the Royal Caribbean App: In addition to the Cruise Planner app, download the Royal Caribbean app for easy access to daily schedules, onboard maps and the ability to chat with fellow passengers (when connected to the ship's Wi-Fi).

  • Book Excursions in Advance: Research and book shore excursions and specialty dining experiences before your cruise to ensure availability and avoid disappointment. You can usually book 45–30 days in advance on the Royal Caribbean website or on the App. Always book the Aqua show the first night of your cruise. This show often gets canceled due to weather. If you have to miss the show the first night, you know in advance that you can reschedule.

  • Use the Cruise Planner App: Download the Royal Caribbean Cruise Planner app to keep track of your itinerary, view onboard activities, make reservations and stay connected with friends and family onboard.

  • Arrive Early for Shows: Popular shows and entertainment onboard fill up quickly. Arrive early to secure good seats or consider making reservations in advance.

  • Explore the Neighborhoods: Take the time to explore each neighborhood, from the bustling Boardwalk to the tranquil Central Park.

  • Visit the FlowRider Early: If you're interested in trying out the FlowRider surf simulator, head there early in the day to avoid long lines and wait times.

  • Take Advantage of Dining Options: With a variety of dining venues onboard, from casual buffets to specialty restaurants, take the opportunity to sample a range of cuisines and dining experiences. Don’t forget to keep checking the app. The prices for specialty restaurants change regularly. You can always cancel and rebook a restaurant if you find a lower price.

  • Plan Your Sea Days: On sea days, the ship offers a wide array of activities and entertainment options. Plan your day ahead of time to make the most of your time onboard. You can save your activities on the App once you board the ship.

  • Pack Smartly: Be sure to pack essentials such as sunscreen, swimsuits, comfortable walking shoes and formal attire for any formal nights or special events. Cruise ship cabins can be small. Don’t overpack!

  • Stay Hydrated: With so much to see and do onboard, it's important to stay hydrated. Carry a refillable water bottle with you and take advantage of complimentary water stations throughout the ship.

  • Participate in Onboard Activities: From trivia contests and dance classes to wine tastings and art auctions, there's no shortage of onboard activities to enjoy. Participate in as many activities as you can to make your cruise experience even more memorable.

  • Relax and Unwind: While it's tempting to try and do everything, don't forget to take some time to relax and unwind. Whether it's enjoying a spa treatment, lounging on the deck with a good book or simply soaking in the stunning ocean views, remember to take moments for yourself to recharge.
