Things to do in Milos
Milos has so many diverse and unique things to see and do.
Boat trip to Kleftikos
My number one must do on Milos is to book a boat trip to see the Kleftikos, unique rock formations accessible only by sea. You will not be disappointed! You can marvel at the rock and clear water from the boat but you’ll probably want to swim or snorkel and explore the caves and tunnels, to take in the full experience of this breathtaking location.
Sarakiniko
Visit Sarakiniko, a lunar-like landscape of white volcanic rocks and crystal clear waters. Explore the surreal formations, capture stunning photos and relax on the smooth rocks while taking in the mesmerizing views.
Klima
Visit the charming fishing village of Klima, known for its colorful boathouses, called "syrmata," that line the waterfront. Take a stroll along the shore, admire the traditional architecture, take all the photos and soak in the peaceful ambiance of this picturesque location. There are 1-2 waterside tavernas down there as well if you want to spend more time.
Fyropotamos Beach
Spend a day at Fyropotamos beach, known for its colorful fishing boats, a few “syrmata” and super clear waters. You can rent sunbeds with umbrellas for the day and sunbathe, swim, and snorkel. You can bring a picnic lunch or order food and cocktails from the beach snack stand.
Tsigrado Beach
Explore the secluded beauty of Tsigrado Beach. Be aware it requires descending through a narrow staircase, but the effort is worth it for the pristine sandy beach and the clear turquoise waters. Relax, swim and enjoy this hidden gem.
Catacombs of Milos
Delve into Milos' rich history by visiting the Catacombs. It’s an ancient underground burial chambers, dating back to the 1st century AD, which provides insights into the island's early Christian community. Explore and learn about the historical significance and unique architectural features. This is close to Klima, so these two are good to pair together.
Places to eat & drink in Milos
O! Hamos! (outside Adamantas): I can’t say enough good things about O! Hamos! I had heard a lot of praise before going, but it lived up to the hype. They serve traditional Greek dishes in a true farm-to-table operation. They make their own cheese, butcher their own meat, grow all their produce, even the dish-ware is locally produced. They don’t take reservations and the wait will be long, so be prepared, but the waiting area is a lovely beach with sunbeds and a server bringing drinks, so it’s a nice wait!
Yialos (Pollonia marina area): Yialos in Pollonia makes for a memorable dining experience by the sea. This is the place for fresh seafood and local specialties, all in a lively atmosphere with scenic views.
Kivotos ton Gefseon (Pollonia): Start your day here if you are staying in Pollonia. They offer great coffee and amazing bakery items, as well as typical eggs and bacon type breakfast options. The garden seating is lovely as well. You can also purchase some baked goods and desserts from the shop area to take away for a beach snack! The chocolate pie is legendary.
Palaios (Plaka): A pretty bakery and cafe that offers a variety of Greek dishes with a very nice terrace in central plaka. The horiatiki (village) salad I had here was delicious, they use mizithira cheese instead of feta for a nice twist. Staff was delightful to chat with when I visited as well!
Remember to check the opening hours and make reservations in advance for dinners when possible.
