Advisor - Milan: Italy's Most Overlooked City
Curator’s statement

Milan is Italy’s main economic hub and world-renowned fashion and design center. It’s a vibrant city that offers amusement, excellent food and cultural gems that are usually found in other most classical Italian cities. Often bypassed because of its predominantly industrial soul, try spending a few days there, also as a starting point to reach the northern Italian lakes region and Venice.

Things to do in Milan

Lots to see in Milan, and to shop. From the Brera district all the way to the Navigli for a fun evening.

  • Pinacoteca di Brera: One of Italy’s greatest collections of masterpieces.

  • The Last Supper: Leonardo Da Vinci’s fresco at Santa Maria delle Grazie church. After Mona Lisa, this is the second most famous work of this genius.

  • Sant’Ambrogio: Milan’s oldest basilica in honor of the city’s Patron.

  • Duomo: Late gothic, impressive cathedral. Don’t miss a trip up on the roof for a magnificent view of the city and all the way to the Alps on clear days.

  • Teatro alla Scala: One of the world’s hot spots for operas and concerts. Tours can be arranged.

  • Piazza Duomo to Castello Sforzesco: Stroll all the way from the Duomo towards the castle. Via Dante is a pedestrian-only avenue leading to Castello Sforzesco.

  • Parco Sempione with Torre del Parco: A beautiful park with a 33-foot tower for an impressive view of the city.

  • Bosco Verticale: Two high-standing buildings covered with plants. Stunningly beautiful.

  • Navigli: Those two canals are navigable all the way to the Po River, and eventually to the Adriatic Sea.

  • Brera District: Probably Milan’s nicest neighborhood.

  • Galleria Vittorio Emanuele: A jewel. Naples has one just identical

  • Via Montenapoleone: Fashion, fashion and more fashion! Shopping galore in true Milanese style.

  • Lake Como, Maggiore and Lugano day tours

Day Trips

Lake Como, Maggiore and Lugano: Day tours are a must.

  • Osteria Binari

  • La Pesa

  • El Brelin

  • Osteria al Coniglio Bianco

  • Bar Magenta: Historical bar perfect for aperitivo or a quick bite. The sandwiches are delicious!
