Things to do in Naxos, Greece

The breathtaking beach of Mikri Vigla.

Historic Sights To See:

Temple of Apollo

The Temple of Apollo is a captivating archaeological marvel, where weathered ruins echo the island's rich history. You can not miss it when you are arriving by ferry.

Apollonas Kouros

The Apollonas Kouros, also called the Colossus of Dionysus, is a 35.1 feet-tall marble statue of a young man that stands stoically by the seaside.

Beaches:

Mikri Vigla Beach

This beach has some sunbeds you can rent, but you can also just bring a towel and hang out! I had a blast climbing on the rockier part of the beach and exploring! The water was insanely clear, so I'd recommend bringing goggles if you're into that kind of thing! **Insider Tip** I recommend buying a turkish towel (or two) and using that as your beach towel! They dry super quickly and fold up small, making them easy to carry around.

Maragas Beach

Maragas is known for its proximity to various amenities, including beachfront tavernas and accommodations, making it a wonderful area to spend a day.

Beach Clubs:

Nomad Naxos

Nomad is a wonderful way to spend a day in Naxos. The drinks are 10/10 and the food is also incredible.

**Insider tip** Beach clubs in Greece typically offer a vibrant and laid-back atmosphere, combining the beauty of the coastal setting with various amenities and activities.

Keep in mind that the specific features and atmosphere of beach clubs can vary widely depending on the location, size, and style of the establishment.

Things To Do:

Rent a Car + Explore

Spend a day driving inland to discover charming villages like Chalkio, Apeiranthos and Filoti. You will be blown away by the breathtaking landscapes and should make stops to explore the historic sites, traditional tavernas, and picturesque viewpoints.

Citron Tasting & Distillery Tour

The citron fruit, known as "kitro" in Greek, is a specialty of Naxos. Citron is a liqueur made from the peel of the citron fruit and is a popular local product enjoyed by both residents and visitors. Try a tasting here on this guided tour.

All About Olive Farming On Naxos

Learn all about how olives are grown, and take part in the action if you’d like! At the end of your session, you will enjoy a tasting of olive oils with different accompaniments and get to bring home your very own bottle of olive oil. Try Olive Farming.

Day trips

One of the most enticing parts of traveling in Greece is island hopping. Naxos offers several day-trip options to explore nearby attractions. You can get to the following islands (plus more) by ferry: Mykonos, Santorini, Koufonisia.

**Insider Tip** Use Ferry Hopper to look up ferry options, book travel, and track ships.

Place to eat & drink in Naxos, Greece

Dinner view at Rotonda

Coffee Shops:

Coffee Island

This is just a quick grab-and-go shop, but has great coffee.

Honey & Cinnamon Cocktail Bar

This restaurant is super cute and has great breakfast options! It is also open late as a cocktail bar if you’re into that!

Restaurants:

Ammos Seafood & More

This is a super-traditional Greek restaurant right in the heart of Naxos Town. Super-fresh seafood served daily.

Yucca Beach Kitchen Bar

Yucca Beach Kitchen Bar is a beautiful restaurant on Maragas Beach. This is the perfect spot to hit for dinner after lounging at Nomad Beach Club all day.

Rotonda

Rotonda is located on the way from Filoti to Apeiranthos. You could take a taxi, but you should really rent a car for the day and hit those other towns on your way here for dinner/sunset. The sunset is UNREAL!

Drinks:

520 Cocktail Bar & Restaurant

520 Cocktail Bar & Restaurant is a fabulous place to get pre-dinner drinks. The Limoncello Spritz is 10/10!

Avaton 1739

Avaton 1739 is located atop the roof of an Old Monastery, the Old Monastery of Ursulines and the School of Ursulines of Naxos.

**Insider Tip** It can get pretty windy up there, so you might want to pack a sweater.

Toro Rooftop Cocktail Bar

Great cocktail bar to hit for post-dinner drinks!
