As the sun begins its slow ascent over the horizon, casting golden hues across the azure waters — Zanzibar awaits. On the island's shores, the balmy breeze carries whispers of adventure and the promise of discovery. Step onto the grounds of Park Hyatt Zanzibar, a sanctuary nestled within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Stone Town, where history and modernity intertwine like threads in a vibrant tapestry.

Settle into the embrace of luxury while the aroma of spices wafts through the air, a tantalizing prelude to the culinary delights that await. Dine in Park Hyatt's Zamani Residence, which offers a myriad of restaurant choices, each overlooking the Indian Ocean and the bustling dhow harbor. With 67 luxurious guestrooms and suites, each with panoramic views of the ocean, Park Hyatt Zanzibar beckons guests to immerse themselves in the island's timeless allure.

Thinking of dining elsewhere? A short walk form the hotel lies the Forodhani Gardens. The gardens come alive under the night sky with chefs from a multitude of restaurants, each showcasing their spellbinding cuisine. Tip: try the seafood prepared the local way.

As twilight descends in a riot of colors, savor a culinary odyssey at Cape Town Fish Market nestled within the verdant oasis of Forodhani Gardens. Amid the gentle melody of waves and the jubilant laughter of locals, indulge in gastronomic delights as day gracefully transitions to night.

Day 3: Nungwi

With the setting sun casting its final light upon the horizon, retreat to the tranquil sanctuary of Zuri Zanzibar on Kendwa Beach. The Zanzibar leopard, believed to be extinct, was officially last spotted here in 2003, although unofficially there have been sightings from the Zanzibari people.

The forest tour is no more than two hours, which allows guests to delve into Zanzibar's rich spice heritage with a visit to a local spice farm. Learn about cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, ginger and vanilla, discovering their myriad uses and cultural significance. Conclude a full day with a delightful dinner at the renowned Local Fish Market restaurant known for its exquisite seafood. Please note: Cash only, and alcohol not served.

Quick Tips:

  • The rainy season is also the off-peak season with relatively few tourists. You'll often find yourself with exclusive use of certain parts of the beach. The season is from May until early August.

  • Mosquitoes are rife in Zanzibar. Take all the necessary precautions and don't forget your mosquito repellant.

  • Withdrawing money from ATMs is very expensive. It's best to bring cash to exchange at any one of the numerous exchange bureaus. Most places will ask that you pay in cash. American Express cards are hardly used on the island, so make sure you have a Visa or Mastercard on hand.
