Things to do in Sevilla

Catedral de Sevilla & La Giralda

Let’s start with one of Sevilla’s biggest stars — the Sevilla Cathedral. This Gothic masterpiece is one of the largest cathedrals in the world and the final resting place of Christopher Columbus. Step inside to marvel at its massive altarpiece, intricate stained glass and awe-inspiring ceilings.

Next, climb La Giralda, the iconic bell tower that was originally a minaret from the city’s Moorish past. The view from the top is breathtaking — you’ll see Sevilla’s rooftops stretching all the way to the horizon!

The Royal Alcázar: A palace from a fairytale

If the Alhambra in Granada took your breath away, just wait until you step into the Alcázar of Sevilla. This Moorish-style royal palace, still used by the Spanish royal family, is a masterpiece of intricate tilework, lush gardens and stunning courtyards. The Patio de las Doncellas (Courtyard of the Maidens) is especially mesmerizing, with its reflecting pool and delicate arches. Fans of Game of Thrones might recognize the Alcázar as the setting for Dorne!

  • Tip: Book tickets in advance to avoid long lines — this place is a must-see!

Plaza de España: A Grand Spanish masterpiece

Walking into Plaza de España feels like stepping into a royal fantasy. Built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition, this semi-circular plaza is a stunning mix of Renaissance and Moorish styles, with colorful ceramic tiles, ornate bridges and a grand canal.

  • Don’t miss: The tile benches representing each region of Spain — perfect for fun photo ops!

Flamenco: The heartbeat of Sevilla

If you want to experience flamenco at its most authentic, Sevilla is the place to do it. Born in Andalusia, flamenco is more than just dance — it’s raw emotion, storytelling and passion. You’ll find intimate flamenco performances all over the city, from traditional tablaos to hidden bars where locals gather.

Some top spots to see flamenco:

  • Casa de la Memoria – A small, intimate venue with powerful performances.

  • El Palacio Andaluz – A more theatrical experience with top-notch dancers.

  • La Carbonería – A casual bar with live flamenco in a rustic setting.

Wandering the streets of Sevilla

One of the best things to do in Sevilla? Simply walk! The old Jewish quarter of Santa Cruz is full of narrow, winding streets, whitewashed buildings and hidden courtyards. Stroll through Avenida de la Constitución, stop for a drink in Plaza del Salvador and don’t forget to peek into orange-scented patios along the way.

Cruise the Guadalquivir River

For a different perspective of the city, take a relaxing cruise on the Guadalquivir River. You’ll sail past landmarks like the Torre del Oro, the Triana neighborhood and the bridges connecting Sevilla’s historic and modern districts. It’s a great way to slow down and soak in the views after a day of sightseeing.

Need to know

Sevilla is charming, vibrant and full of soul. Whether you're exploring its grand palaces, lively plazas or hidden alleyways, every corner of this city tells a story. And with flamenco music filling the air and the scent of orange blossoms in the streets, it’s impossible not to fall in love with Sevilla. ¡Olé!
