Tours

  • Residenz Museum: Once home to Bavarian royalty, the Residenz Museum is a vast and opulent palace filled with art, artifacts and stunning interiors, showcasing centuries of Bavarian history.

  • Nymphenburg Palace: A stunning Baroque palace on the outskirts of Munich, Nymphenburg Palace features lavish interiors and gardens offering a glimpse into Bavaria’s royal past

  • The Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial: A somber, educational experience exploring the camp’s history, including its role during the Holocaust, key memorial sites and the stories of its prisoners.

  • Kaufingerstrasse Shopping: One of Munich’s busiest pedestrian streets, Kaufingerstrasse is lined with international and local shops, offering everything from high-end fashion to Bavarian souvenirs. I recommend Bethge Boutique for quality leather goods and stationary

  • Viktualienmarkt: A vibrant daily food market in the heart of Munich. It features fresh produce, local specialties and a welcoming beer garden, perfect for soaking up the city’s flavors and culture. Grab a leberkase or fresh pickle at one of the market stalls!

Nightlife

  • Pacha Nightclub: Known for its luxurious vibe and international DJs, Pacha Munich offers a glamorous night out with pulsating beats and a stylish crowd.

  • Neuraum Nightclub: One of Munich’s largest nightclubs, Neuraum features multiple rooms with different music genres, attracting a young, energetic crowd looking to dance the night.

Day trip

  • Neuschwanstein Castle: A fairytale-like castle nestled in the Bavarian Alps, Neuschwanstein offers stunning views and a glimpse into the romantic vision of King Ludwig II, just a two-hour drive from Munich.

  • Salzburg: A picturesque Austrian city known for its baroque architecture, rich history and as the birthplace of Mozart. Salzburg is easily accessible from Munich by train in about 1.5 hours.

  • Eibsee: A crystal-clear alpine lake at the base of the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain, Eibsee is perfect for hiking, swimming and breathtaking views, just over an hour from Munich.

Brunch

  • Café Luitpold: A historic café known for its elegant pastries, breakfast dishes and vibrant brunch atmosphere in the heart of Munich.

  • Cotidiano: A popular spot offering a cozy ambiance with wholesome brunch options, from fresh baked goods to healthy bowls and eggs, all day long.

Lunch/dinner

  • Münchens Kleinste Gaststätte: Known as Munich's smallest pub, this spot offers a cozy, local experience where guests can enjoy traditional Bavarian beers and snacks in a uniquely tiny setting within Viktualienmarkt.

  • Augustiner Klosterwirt: A classic Bavarian beer hall serving hearty, traditional German fare. As recommended to us by a local, this beer hall serves the best food of all in Munich. Don’t forget Grandma’s apple strudel for dessert.

  • ZUM Franziskaner: A time-honored restaurant serving authentic Bavarian dishes with a modern twist, known for its friendly service and excellent beer selection. I recommend the schnitzel here!

  • NARI Pizza Atelier: A trendy modern spot for wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizzas. This pizza beats some that I have had in Italy!

  • Forty Four Burger: A casual, moody spot serving gourmet burgers made with high-quality ingredients that make it one of the best burgers I have ever had.

Beer

  • Tegernseer Tal — Brauhaus: A lively beer hall offering craft beers from the Tegernsee region and traditional Bavarian dishes in a vibrant, rustic setting.

  • Hofbräuhaus: One of Munich’s most famous beer halls, Hofbräuhaus offers an iconic Bavarian experience with traditional music, hearty food and world-renowned beer.
