Things to do in Krabi, Thailand

A large bay with teal green water surrounded by lush cliffs and a boat tied up on a sandy beach.
  • Railay Beach

Accessible only by boat, this iconic beach is a must-see while in Krabi. The massive limestone cliffs that surround the gorgeous beach and the colorful longtail boats in the bay make this one of the prettiest beaches in the world.

Tip: Get here early to avoid the crowds. Hop on a longtail boat ferry from Krabi town or Ao Nang for a short and scenic boat ride to this secluded beach.

  • Tiger Cave Temple

This remarkable temple nestled in the mountains, serves as a significant religious site for the monks, while graciously revealing its captivating beauty and rich history to eager travelers. Although this is a strenuous walk with 1,200 steps, the natural caves, lush green jungle and breathtaking views from the top make the journey more than worth it.

  • Krabi Night Market

The night markets in Krabi are an absolutely must-do free activity. Wander among hundreds of vendors selling everything from handmade shoes, carved soaps, jewelry, street food and so much more. This is the perfect spot to pick up some souvenirs for yourself and friends and family.

  • Elephant Sanctuary

Elephants are a symbol of Thailand. At the Krabi Elephant Sanctuary, visitors can see and touch rescue and retired elephants. This haven for elephants does not permit riding them, but visitors can pet them, feed them sugarcane, and even walk to the river and bathe them in the cool water.

  • Kayak in the mangroves

Explore a different side of Krabi on a kayak tour with a professional guide. Get up close to steep limestone cliffs while you paddle and keep a lookout for monkeys that frequent the mangroves.

  • Snorkel on a four-island tour

Enjoy Krabi's harder-to-reach islands such as Tup Island, Chicken Island, Koh Poda Island and Railay Beach on an all-day trip where your food and snorkeling gear will be included. These waters are perfect to snorkel in and are teeming with friendly and colorful fish. You'll also get to visit some unique caves, such as PhraNang Cave Beach.

Tip: These kinds of tours typically cover all expenses except for National Park entrance fees, which are around $6 per adult.

  • Authentic thai cooking class

Discover the traditional methods behind your favorite Thai dishes with a group or individual cooking class. Your native host will explain local traditions and how this one-of-a-kind food is such a big part of Thai culture. Learn how to make Pad Thai, Som Tum, mango sticky rice and more.

  • Hike to Railay View Point

For what might be the best views in all of Krabi, hike to the Railay View Point. Although it's not a long hike, you will gain elevation very quickly which will lead to sweeping views of East and West Railay Beach and the lagoon.

Tip: Wear good hiking shoes for this hike. Be prepared that the hike gets very steep, but the views are incredible.
