Curator’s statement

A perfect getaway for a girls weekend / birthday trip. The vibrant city of San Juan offers much to explore on foot and a wealth of great places to dine! Just a 30-minute charter flight from San Juan, Vieques offers a dreamy remote island experience with its beautiful wild horses, shimmering black sand beach, bioluminescent bay and so much more! Based on my adventure, I recommend two nights in San Juan and three nights in Vieques.

Where to stay

Unlock perks by contacting Friedrica to book your trip.

Day 1: Guided tour through Old San Juan

On your first day, take a guided tour through Old San Juan. With so many great places to drink & dine, you’ll want to plan for lunch and dinner each day.

Here are my San Juan dining favorites:

Vianda

Cocina al Fondo

Casita Miramar

Santaella

Jungle Bird

Day 2: Wander the city & visit Condado Beach

Spend the day wandering on foot while stopping for coffee and lots of culinary goodness along the way! Spend some time at Condado Beach.

Day 3: Travel to Vieques

Aerial view of body of water and buildings on a sunny day during daytime

Enjoy coffee & lunch in San Juan then jump on a 30 minute charter flight to Vieques! The view is stunning!

After you’ve spent time swooning over your stay for the upcoming nights, take a stroll on Esperanza Beach, have dinner & watch the sunset.

I recommend booking your flight in advance with Vieques Air Link. I also recommend reservations for all tours and dining experiences on the Island. Call all taxis ahead of time or schedule rides.

Vieques dining favorites are El Quenepo and Placita.

Day 4: Playa Negra & bioluminescent bay

View of the ocean and beach with palm trees during daytime

Spend the day outside! Go horseback riding & visit Playa Negra. After dinner, take a night tour of the bioluminescent bay for a beautiful glowing view above and below. Very little light pollution makes Vieques perfect for star gazing!

Day 5: Adventure outdoors & visit the spa

Spend more time outside with activities like bike riding, hiking or jet skiing. Take photos (from a distance) of all the wild horses you meet along the way — they’re so sweet!

Before check-out, treat yourself to a spa service. At Finca Victoria, I enjoyed a therapeutic massage followed by an outdoor shower.
