Things to do in Breckenridge, Colorado

Getting there:

There are two airport options for getting to Breckenridge. The more popular option is Denver Airport. From there, I recommend renting a car and taking the two-hour drive to Breck. That being said, the road to the mountains can experience heavy traffic during busier times of the year. The second airport option, Eagle County Airport (EGE), is only about an hour from Breckenridge, but flights are more expensive and harder to come by.

Things to do:

Get on the mountain! Breckenridge is known for its world-class slopes that cater to both skiers and snowboarders. With over 1,100 acres of terrain, there’s something for every skill level. After a long day on the slopes, it’s après-ski time! Breckenridge has a lively après-ski scene both on and off the mountain. Choose one of the great options from my list below: Après Ski

On the mountain:

  • T-Bar: Slopeside bar with a lively patio near the BreckConnect Gondola.

  • The Maggie: Grab a drink at the base of Peak 9 on the sunny patio with live music.

  • Robbie’s Tavern: Located at the base of Peak 8, this slopeside hangout offers mountain views and happy hour specials.

In town:

  • RMU: Indoor/outdoor bar with great vibes and even better drinks — one of our favorite spots in town!

  • Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant: Happy hour margaritas after a day of skiing? What more could you want!

  • The Breckenridge Brewery: The first brewpub in Breck offers mountain views and delicious craft brews.

Insider tip:

  • Breckenridge has one of the highest elevations for a ski resort. While this means stunning views and incredible runs, it can also lead to altitude sickness. Stay hydrated, limit alcohol, wear sunscreen and take it easy on your first day on the slopes. If you still feel off, visit the O2 Lounge for oxygen therapy to help you acclimate.

  • The Crown: A warm, inviting café with great coffee and tons of breakfast options. This is our favorite — we went here every morning on our last visit.

  • Semplice Café: A charming hut with a minimalist vibe, known for its expertly brewed espresso drinks and fresh pastries. Tip: This is for outdoor seating only.

  • Cool River Coffee House: A laid-back spot offering excellent coffee, breakfast burritos and fresh pastries.

Bars:

  • RMU Tavern: A lively bar with unique cocktails, live music and an upscale ski-town vibe.
