Curator’s statement
Ravello is every incredible part of the Amalfi coast, without the crowds. Set into the cliffs above Amalfi, this tiny town boasts intimate wine bars, superior views, incredible seafood and some of the best hotels in the region. I am probably biased, as this was the first stop on my honeymoon, but I can't imagine experiencing the Amalfi coast any other way. You can spend your time exploring the town, take a shuttle down to a beach club, or even charter a water taxi to take you to nearby Praiano or Positano. No matter what, you can't miss the tonnino toast!

Things to do in Ravello, Italy
Hike to Minori: One thing about Ravello is that you can definitely get your steps in. The absolute best way to experience the Amalfi Coast is on foot. You'll find views and places that you wouldn't see otherwise. If you're feeling adventurous (and up for a challenge), find the stairway to Minori in the Ravello central piazza. You'll walk over 15,000 stairs round trip and follow ceramic signs down to the beautiful beach of Minori.
Villa Rufulo: If you're looking for the best view in all of Ravello, this is where you'll find it. A moderate walk from the city center, you'll find this historic villa open to the public. Take a walk around the property and find the terrace with a sprawling view of the coast.
Day trip to Positano or Praiano: If you're staying at a hotel like the Belmond, you might have access to a complimentary boat tour. If not, coordinating a water taxi is easy. Boating along this stretch of coast is a can't miss. Along the route you'll see viewpoints like the Fiordo di Fuore, Conca dei Marini and the Grotto di Smeralda. Hop off the boat and spend some time exploring Positano at the end!
Rent a vespa: Amalfi is all winding roads and coastal views. Other than walking, a vespa is an excellent way to see the sights. There's a cute little scooter rental shop right as you enter Ravello that provides scooters and helmets to help you explore the coast.
Fiordo di Fuore: If you're renting a vespa, you need to make a day trip here. Stop in town and grab a bottle of wine and some snacks before heading down to the beach. The only fjord in all of Italy, this secluded beach offers a truly unique Italian experience.
Explore the city of Amalfi: Most hotels offer complimentary shuttles, so getting into town is easy. Once you're there, grab a spritz and explore all of the ceramics shops — don't forget to grab some arancini!
Path of Lemons: Between Minori and Maiori, this walking path will take you through lemon groves along the coast. At the end, grab a lemon ice in town to cool down while you enjoy the views of the water.
Places to eat & drink in Ravello, Italy
Luigis Wine Bar: Tiny and unassuming (and not on Google maps), this little wine bar is between Caruso and the historic Duomo in the town center. Grab some wine on the patio and enjoy the little snacks they make.
Duomo central piazza: There are two little cafes facing the Duomo. Neither of them is on Google maps, but they both have fantastic tonnino (tuna) toast and excellent spritz!
Belvedere: Whether or not you're staying at the Belmond, their Belvedere restaurant is a must try. I recommend going for lunch to enjoy the view and to try their fresh calamari and pizzas.
Salvatore: An easy walk in central Ravello, Salvatore is on the edge of the cliffs over Amalfi. If you're looking for views and the best cacio e pepe on the Amalfi coast, this is the spot to go to.
Babel Wine Bar: A cute and artsy little spot in central Ravello, this wine bar offer excellent pasta and pizza and a big wine selection.
One Fire Beach Club: If you want to experience a beach club that even the locals like, charter a water taxi to One Fire. An exclusive little club in Praiano, they have a daily water melon "sacrifice" called Melon Time!
Trattoria da Lorenzo: In neighboring Scala, this family owned eatery is a can't miss. Their fresh fish and hand-cut pasta are only rivaled by the view from their patio.
Rossellinis: If you're looking for a Michelin-star experience, try Rossellinis at Palazzo Avino. Their fine-dining atmosphere and incredible bites will give you the 5-star experience you're looking for.
