Day 1: Explore Historic Downtown

Rainbow-Row-Charleston-travel-guide

Start your journey by strolling through the historic district, where you'll find beautifully preserved architecture, cobblestone streets and colorful houses. Don't miss Rainbow Row, Battery Park, and the iconic Market Street.

Indulge in Southern Cuisine:

Charleston is a food lover's paradise. Sample Lowcountry specialties like shrimp and grits, she-crab soup, and fried green tomatoes. Don't forget to make a reservation in advance at any of the James Beard award-winning Chef's restaurants. Seriously -- the food is SO good.

Halls Chophouse is a staple, but there are several GREAT restaurants here. I'll need to make a separate guide for that later.

Day 2: Things to Do

Take a Carriage Ride:

Embark on a horse-drawn carriage tour through the historic district. Listen to fascinating stories of Charleston's past from knowledgeable guides while enjoying a leisurely ride through the cobblestone streets.

Visit the Charleston City Market:

You can find a wide array of local crafts, artwork, and traditional sweetgrass baskets at the Charleston City Market. It's a great place to pick up souvenirs for loved ones back home.

Explore Waterfront Park:

Spend some time at the Waterfront Park, located near the historic district. Enjoy views of the harbor, relax on the swinging benches, and cool off with a drink in front of the famous Pineapple fountain.

Day 3: Historic Sites

Take a bost tour to Fort Sumter, the historic site where the first shots of the Civil War were fired. Learn about the significance of this landmark while enjoying panoramic views of the harbor.

Visit Magnolia Plantation:

You won't want to miss the beauty of Magnolia Plantation, one of the oldest in the South. Explore the stunning gardens, take a nature tram tour, and spot wildlife in the Audubon Swamp Garden.

Day 4: Head to the Beach
