Day 1-2: Santiago, Chile
Fly into Santiago (Barrio Italia neighborhood) for two nights.
Stay at Maison Italia: Located in a great (trendy and more quiet) neighborhood with lots of boutiques, only 5 rooms. Boutique-style, also has a well-known bar with craft cocktails and a new rooftop view.
Dinner at Bocanariz, a notable wine bar.
Lunch at Casaluz, located 5 minutes walking from the hotel. Great outdoor patio.
Empanadas and juice at La Vega Central Market.
Day 2: Chilean Patagonia
Take a 3 hour flight into Punta Arenas from Santiago, and then 3 hour bus to the port town of Puerto Natales, where a lot of backpackers start their Patagonia hikes. You can also fly direct into Puerto Natales, but they only fly in a few times a week.
Spend one night at Kau Lodge, a great coffee shop. The next day get picked up by Tierra Patagonia and drive one hour to the hotel. As you pull up to the property, take in the integrated design into the breath taking landscape. This all-inclusive hotel includes all your meals and all your excursions. The excursion guides are all mostly Chilean and well-informed with animal/plant/geology knowledge. All excursions through Tierra end with a return to the hotel (and a snack/drink table waiting for you). If you don't want to think about any logistics, this is the place for you.
Day 3 - 7: Torres del Paine National Park
Excursion Itinerary (mostly in/around the Torres del Paine National Park)
Cañadón Macho hike + Lago Azul view point, 1/2 day
French Valley Hike, 8 hr hike (part of the W trek)
Base of the Towers Hike, 8 hike hr (part of the W trek) — you must do it, it has the iconic glacier lake and view!
Grey Glacier - take in the views! Have lunch in Serrano village
La Cornisas Plateau nature hike, 1/2 day
Horseback riding at Estancia Lazo
Hunter's Trail hike, 1/2 day - you will most likely see pumas on this hike, it's a hot spot for their hunting grounds
Take time to schedule a spa treatment and relax in the infinity pool. Enjoy the group expeditions — you'll get to know everyone on the hikes and then chat over dinner about the highlights.
Day 8 - 11: Eberhard fjord & Puerto Natales
It will be sad to leave Tierra but on to the next amazing hotel.
Get a ride to The Singular Hotel, a former cold storage facility with a Museum that showcases its history. We took it easy here since we had intense hiking prior and only did two excursions.
Book dinner at El Asador, their BBQ style tasting where they cook almost everyone on an open fire. Delicious, amazing way to close out our trip. Also, it's basically in a secret location so it has a major wow factor.
Kayak on the Eberhard fjord for a half day.
This hotel is close to Puerto Natales, so you have the option of walking to town and trying a local restaurant. Try Cafe Artimana for a homey meal, lunch fills up quick!
Finish your trip with a sail to Serrano and Balmaceda glaciers (look out for sea lions!) + 1/2 day lunch/hike/sheep shearing demo/ranch visit to Estancia La Peninsula (amazing, amazing lamb here).
