Don’t miss the Point Reyes Lighthouse, perched dramatically on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. Entry to the seashore is free, though parking at some trailheads may require a small fee.

Monterey Bay Aquarium

One of the most celebrated aquariums in the world, the Monterey Bay Aquarium is a must-visit for families and marine life enthusiasts. Reservations are recommended, especially in peak season.

Hearst Castle

Situated near San Simeon, Hearst Castle is an opulent estate showcasing the lavish tastes of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst. The Grand Rooms Tour, the most popular, takes you through the castle’s stunning assembly rooms, dining hall and movie theater. Tours start at $30 for adults and $15 for children, with various packages available for deeper explorations.

Bixby Creek Bridge

One of the most iconic stops along the Pacific Coast Highway, Bixby Creek Bridge in Big Sur is a marvel of engineering and a photographer’s dream. While there’s no cost to visit, parking can be limited, so arriving early or later in the day is ideal.

Santa Barbara’s Urban Wine Trail

Explore over 20 wineries and tasting rooms concentrated in Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone and Presidio neighborhoods. Notable stops include Deep Sea Tasting Room with its oceanfront views and Santa Barbara Winery for its history and award-winning Pinot Noir. Tasting flights range from $15–$25 per person.

El Matador State Beach

Known for its rugged cliffs and sea stacks, El Matador is one of Malibu’s most picturesque beaches. Accessible by a steep trail, it’s perfect for sunset photography, tide pool exploration and quiet picnics. Parking is $8, with limited availability.

Marvin Braude Bike Trail ("The Strand")

This iconic trail connects Venice Beach to Santa Monica along the coast, perfect for biking, rollerblading or walking. Rentals are available in both areas, making it easy to explore. Don't miss the lively Venice Boardwalk and the Santa Monica Pier along the way.
