Night clubs

Cinema Hall Budapest: Immerse yourself in the trendy vibes of Cinema Hall Budapest, a unique club venue that seamlessly combines music and visual arts/decor. Located in the heart of the city, this popular spot offers an unforgettable nightlife experience, with renowned DJs spinning beats, captivating visuals and an electric dance floor that keeps you grooving till the early hours.

Instant-Fogas: A ruin pub turned cultural hub, Instant-Fogas, happens to be on the top of my list of clubs in Budapest. Set in what seems to be an old warehouse, its labyrinthine layout features various dance floors, chill-out areas and themed rooms that cater to different tastes and moods. Rock, 50s Doo-Wop, Reggaeton and Deep House are some of the many genres that Instant-Fogas plays in its venue. This multi-faceted club is a favorite among locals and tourists alike, ensuring an unforgettable night out.

Szimpla Kert: A must-visit in the city's nightlife scene, Szimpla Kert is the pioneer of Budapest's ruin pub culture. As another one of my favorites, this eclectic venue boasts an organic bohemian ambiance, artistic decor, arbitrary furniture (broken bathtubs and disco balls to be specific) and a lively atmosphere. In recent years it has become popular among tourists, but has never lost its charm. Explore its sprawling courtyard, quirky bars and diverse events, making Szimpla Kert a top destination to soak in the city's nocturnal charm.

ÖTKERT: If you’re looking for a luxurious nighttime escapade, ÖTKERT is the place to be. Nestled within a beautiful historical building, this upscale club combines modern elegance with classic charm. The attire tends to be classy, yet fun so be sure to stay comfortable because you will be movin’ and groovin’ all night. With a variety of music genres and an open outdoor terrace, ÖTKERT promises an invigorating night of sophistication and fun.

Romkert: An unforgettable night starts and ends at the unique open-air nightclub, Romkert. This enchanting club set within the ruins of an old Roman amphitheater allows for fresh air among crowds of people that otherwise may be a bit suffocating for some. Dance under the stars and amidst the historic remnants, as Romkert offers a distinctive ambiance, great music and a valuable experience that sets it apart from the typical club scene.

Cocktail bars

Boutiq'Bar: This trendy cocktail bar takes pride in crafting innovative concoctions with fresh, local ingredients and a touch of Hungarian flair. During my visit, I got the "Space Zombie" cocktail. It was topped with a science beaker filled with a vibrant, blue-green elixir and smoke. Upon the first sip, it hits you with a zesty citrus and ripe pineapple flavor that is actually quite sweet. Step into the world of masterful mixologists and let your taste buds embark on an unforgettable journey of flavors.

Jardin Cocktail Bar: Located in the heart of Budapest, Jardin offers an enchanting escape from the busy city. With its industrial and surprisingly intimate setting, this hidden gem specializes in handcrafted cocktails, some inspired by nature. Sip on carefully curated drinks and enjoy a relaxing evening in this charming cocktail sanctuary. One cocktail we won’t forget is the cocktail in a mini bathtub, which I thought was a very unique presentation (Budapest nightlife loves a good bathtub.)

Black Swan: A street over from nightclub, Instant-Fogas, this cocktail bar combines elegance with a modern twist. Ring the doorbell on the outside to enter this hidden bar. Black Swan curates classic cocktails to signature creations (right in front of you,) inspired by Hungarian regions and culture.

Live music

Budapest Jazz Club: Immerse yourself in the soulful melodies of Budapest Jazz Club, a renowned venue that celebrates the art of jazz. It is recommended to reserve a table near the stage in advance to ensure an elevated experience. With a dinner and drink menu, this club calls for an intimate night with your lover or closest friends. Budapest Jazz Club debuts regular live performances by talented musicians and offers an intimate and mesmerizing experience for jazz enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

Lumen Kávézó: A coffee house by day and a live music venue by night, Lumen Kávézó hosts various musical acts, ranging from acoustic performances to soulful vocalists. During the day, the natural light and organic greenery create an outdoor atmosphere without the noise of the city. At night, it tends to be a bit more lively, hosting many charming musical acts to entertain everyone through the night.

Varkert Bazar: Located by the picturesque Danube River, Varkert Bazar hosts an array of cultural events, including live music performances, movie screenings and dance acts. Tickets are typically bought online in advance to ensure a smooth entry. It’s hard not to be enchanted by the scenic beauty surrounding this unique venue, as you revel in the melodies and art that resonate through the night.
