Things to do in Paris

A large building with historical architecture and a pyramid structure in the front and center on an overcast day.

1. Eiffel Tower: Get a guided or self-guided tour of the Eiffel Tower, learning the history of this Paris staple! Climb (or take an elevator) to the top and take in the breathtaking views of the city below! Tip: For the best pics of the Eiffel Tower, head to the field facing the tower called Jardins du Trocadero!

2. Louvre Museum: Spend the day at the Louvre Museum with a guided tour, seeing all of the famous art masterpieces and collections. Be sure to not miss the famous Mona Lisa! Tip: Walk through the Tuileries Gardens on your way to the Louvre for beautiful picturesque Paris photos!

3. Notre Dame Cathedral: This medieval cathedral, lined with gargoyles and sculptures, is a sight you must not miss, located right on the Seine River. (Unfortunately, the cathedral caught fire, causing much damage. It is not reopened to the public yet, but is expected to be reopened by 2025).

4. Sainte-Chapelle Chapel: An excellent alternative/addition to viewing the Notre Dame is this chapel! This original 13th century chapel is adorned with the largest story-telling stained glass collection that will take your breath away!

5. Seine River boat cruise: Relax and take a boat cruise on the River Seine! Take in the sites of Paris as you pass by famous landmarks. Tip: Take an evening cruise and view the Eiffel Tower glitter before your eyes!

6. Day trip to the Palace of Versailles: Take yourself back in time as you travel outside of the city center to walk the halls of the famous Palace! You will be astonished by the gorgeous architecture and gold lined ceilings and walls of this historical home of the Kings of France. Tip: Get a guided tour that includes transportation to the Palace and back to the city of Paris!

7. Montmartre neighborhood: Make sure you set aside time to take a taxi to Montmarte. This historical neighborhood truly immerses you in the heart of Paris. Stroll the cobblestone streets and take in the artistic emphasis this district shows. Tip: Buy an authentic piece of artwork from the local Parisians who paint right in the city streets!

8. Sacre-Coeur Basilica: You must not miss the large white-domed basilica up top the Montmarte hill. Free entrance allows you to see the beautifully decorated place of worship. Tip: At the base of the basilica’s stairs, you can look out over the city of Paris which gives you the most magnificent pictures!

9. Moulin Rouge: Easily recognized by its large red windmill atop the roof, the Moulin Rouge is located in Paris’s red light district Pigalle. Here, you can watch a cabaret show!

10. Arc de Triomphe: See this famous monument that stands in the center of the Champs-Elysees. You can even climb to the top of the arc!

11. Palais Garnier: Visit the most famous Opera house in the world! This lavishly decorated building will take your breath away!

12. Hop on-hop off bus: Highly recommended, a hop-on, hop-off double decker audio-tour bus is the best and easiest way to get around Paris! Sit on top for the best views! Tip: Most bus tickets are good for 24 hours, which is a cheap and great way to get around the city without having to purchase taxis! Ask me for my favorite company to set you up with!

13. Catacombs tour: Get a tour underground into the Catacombs of Paris! Walk underneath the city through tunnels, viewing skeletons of over six million people! Tip: Go at night for a spookier feel!

Places to eat & drink in Paris

A street corner with people sitting at tables under a pink tree.

1. Le Jules Verne: Located on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower, enjoy this thrilling culinary experience while looking over the city of Paris!
2. Cafe Gustave: Are you a fan of the film Ratatouille?! Stop at Cafe Gustave’s for a warm and inviting meal. Fun Fact: They even have a stuffed animal of Remy, the mouse from the film, in the restaurant!
3. Le Cafe Marly: Located in the beautiful Tuileries Garden near the Louvre Museum.
4. Les Deux Magots: One of the most famous cafes in Paris!
5. Cafe de Flore: Affordable and delicious, one of the most visited cafes in the city!
6. La Mere Catherine: Traditional French cuisine with wonderful covered outdoor seating, located near the Sacre-Coeur Basilica in Montmarte!
7. Creperie Parisienne: Freshly made sweet and savory crepes! A must try!
