Things to do in Santa Barbara
Wondering what to do in Santa Barbs? I have some ideas for you!
Head to Hendry's Beach to relax on the sand and grab a drink at The Boathouse's excellent happy hour. Bring your dog to the dog-friendly part of the beach!
Take a food and photography tour in the Funk Zone to experience Santa Barbara's craft breweries, wineries in shipping container bars and hipster venues — best in the afternoon or early evening.
Visit delicious restaurants listed below or sit in a coffee shop and people-watch.
Visit the zoo and Old Mission.
Ride bikes or walk along the Cabrillo Bike Path.
Shop at the Saturday Farmers Market downtown — open 8:30 am to 12:30 pm Saturdays at Santa Barbara and Cota Streets.
Indulge in a spa day at one of the nearby luxury hotels.
Drive 40 minutes to the Santa Ynez Valley and visit charming wineries like Sunstone, Gainey Vineyard and CrossHatch. Stop for brunch at Bob's Well Bread Bakery.
Places to eat & drink in Santa Barbara
Santa Barbara is renowned for its idyllic climate, laidback beach vibes and exceptional dining options.
For Lebanese fare, head to Zaytoon, which offers incredible Middle Eastern dishes and weekly live music around a cozy fire pit. The vibe here is excellent, the food is perfect — go here!
Bibi Ji's modern Indian cuisine shines with standouts like crispy cauliflower, mysore bonda and garlic tandoori naan. They have great natural wines and a caring staff that takes care of you. The biggest treat is the uni caught by the legendary Sea Stephanie Fish — this may only be available on weekends, so call ahead and check to make sure they will be serving. We love Bibi Ji — such a good restaurant.
Cajé and Dune are top spots for artisanal coffee and espresso drinks in relaxing spaces. I worked from Cajé many times — it is a beautiful open-space coffee shop and offers one of the most unique ambiences in all of downtown Santa Barbara.
The Lark Santa Barbara impresses with its wood-lined, urbane digs and New American cuisine using local ingredients. It's a must-visit in Santa Barbara. For tasty Spanish paella and craft cocktails, Loquita's lively setting and patio seating hit the spot. It is also dog-friendly! Seafood lovers will enjoy the fresh coastal dishes at The Lark and Loquita.
More casual options like Lilly's Taqueria and La Super Rica Taqueria serve up authentic, delicious Mexican fare.
For drinks, Topa Topa Brewing Co., Cutler's Artisan Spirits and Test Pilot cocktail bar are great hangouts. Also Wine Therapy for frozé! The Honor Bar also mixes up craft beverages in a relaxed atmosphere.
With its diversity of dining establishments, Santa Barbara offers something for every palate and craving.
