Things to do in Montana

Skiing and snowboarding, of course!

Never skied before? Take ski lessons with Mountain Sports School (Big Sky Resort). They also offer top-notch rental equipment.

Cross-country skiing

Lone Mountain Ranch has 85 km of groomed trails as well as certified instructors to teach all levels, provide guided tours and gear rentals.

Dog sledding

There are multiple companies that offer half-day trips leaving from both Rainbow Ranch Lodge, Lone Mountain Ranch and Moonlight Basin.

Ice skating

The rink is located in the Big Sky Town center parking lot, open daily in the winter. You can pick up skate rentals from Grizzly Outfitters just down the street.

Shopping

There are many cute boutiques to explore in the Big Sky Town Center. Many art galleries, clothing stores, Montana-made products and outdoor gear. You’ll be sure to find something and an added bonus- Montana doesn’t have sales taxes!

Spa day

Before or after your outdoor adventures, a trip to the spa is dreamy. Montage Big Sky is ultra-luxurious and has an extensive menu of treatments.

1889 Steakhouse in Missoula is an elegant dining experience offering delectable steaks and fine cuisine.

Après ski

Cortina: Seasonal ingredients from local producers inspired by Italy. Located in the Montage hotel.

Tres Toros Tacos and Tequila: Fresh ingredients, margaritas and a hot sauce wall that will challenge your taste buds.

Westward Social: Craft cocktails and comfort foods. In the Big Sky Mountain village at the base of the ski hill.

Date-night worthy

Everett’s 8800: You’ll ride the Ramcharger 8 seated heated chairlift to the top of Andesite Mountain for an alpine-inspired dinner and drinks.

Michelangelo Ristorante Italiano: Pasta and wine in a mountain village, simple perfection.

Where you’ll find the locals

Yeti Dogs: A hot dog, all dressed up. Right at the base of the ski hill, a perfect grab-and-go for a day on the slopes.

Tips Up: Local beers, bar food and games. This is the local hangout post-ski.

Scissorbills Saloon: A locally owned Montana Saloon located in the mountain village. You can ski to the backdoor.
