Advisor - A Must Stop in Los Angeles is Manhattan Beach
Curator’s statement

I’ve called beautiful Manhattan Beach home for over 30 years, raising my three children in this charming coastal town. It’s not only a wonderful place to live but also an ideal destination for travelers exploring Los Angeles, conveniently located just a 10-minute drive from LAX. Manhattan Beach is a serene and picturesque beach community. Take a leisurely bike ride along the Strand, the beachfront promenade, where you can pause to watch exciting volleyball tournaments or simply enjoy the sight of dolphins and surfers riding the waves.

Things to do in Manhattan Beach, Los Angeles

Beaches and outdoor activities

Manhattan Beach Pier:
Take a stroll along this historic pier, where you’ll enjoy stunning ocean views, breathtaking sunsets and the chance to watch surfers ride the waves. Keep an eye out for sea gulls and marine life. At the pier’s end, don’t miss the charming Roundhouse Aquarium, a free attraction that’s great for all ages.

The Strand:
Run, bike or walk along this scenic beachfront promenade that stretches for miles along the coastline. See the beautiful homes lining the path and immerse yourself in the lively beach atmosphere. You might catch a volleyball match, surfers in action or even dolphins, which can be spotted year-round.

El Porto Beach:
Located about a mile south of Manhattan Beach Pier, El Porto Beach is a hotspot for surfing, with consistent waves that attract beginners and pros alike. Take a short, scenic walk along The Strand to reach El Porto Beach, where you can enjoy watching surfers or relax with the sound of crashing waves.

Places to eat & drink in Manhattan Beach, Los Angeles

Local coffee and breakfast spots

My favorite coffee spots are Goodboybob, Caffe Luxxe or Hi-Fi Espresso.
Start your day with a perfect cup of coffee from one of these local favorites. Each offers a unique vibe: Goodboybob for its artisanal brews, Caffe Luxxe for a classic European coffee experience and Hi-Fi for its laid-back, modern atmosphere.

Favorite weekend breakfast at Uncle Bill’s Pancake House
A Manhattan Beach institution, Uncle Bill’s serves up hearty breakfasts with ocean views. It’s the go-to spot for pancakes, omelets and a friendly, beach-town atmosphere.

Get a quick bite at Noah’s NY Bagels
For a quick and satisfying breakfast, grab a fresh bagel and a cup of coffee from Noah’s. Take it to the pier for a peaceful start to the morning while soaking in the sights and activities along the beach

Drinks and nightlife

Ercoles
This classic dive bar is a Manhattan Beach staple, known for its relaxed vibe, pool tables and strong drinks. It’s a favorite hangout for both visitors and locals, perfect for a burger and beer.

Shellback Tavern
Located just steps from the pier, Shellback is a laid-back beachside bar with a friendly atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot to grab a drink, chat with locals and enjoy the quintessential Manhattan Beach experience.
