Day 1: Arrival in Liberia

You’ll land at Daniel Oduber Quiros Intl Airport (LIR) in Costa Rica.

  • Drive 30 minutes to Coco Beach in the heart of the Gulf of Papagayo.

  • Visit downtown Coco, a vibrant party destination with plenty of nightlife to keep you entertained

  • Seeking a laidback experience? Head to one of the little beaches that make up “El Coco.”

Day 2: Transfer to Tamarindo

  • Just one hour south takes you to Tamarindo. Hire transportation, rent a car or find a shuttle. Your Advisor, Kaylee, can help you decide which is best for you.

  • Take a surfing lesson in Costa Rica’s most popular surfing scene. Beginners and experts alike can hit the waves and enjoy the picturesque beaches.

  • Tamarido is also filled with vibrant nightlife and entertainment to fill up your evening. Hit a bar, one of the many restaurants, or see where the night takes you.

Day 3: Explore Tamarindo

  • Head to Waffle Monkey for one of the best cups of coffee you will ever have, alongside delicious waffles for breakfast.

  • Adventurers should consider hitting the adventure park. Choose from ziplining, horseback riding, kayaking, hiking and more!

  • Finish the evening with a catamaran sunset cruise, sipping champagne as the sun sets off the horizon.

Day 4: Transfer to Playa Flamingo

  • A quick 30-minute drive takes you to Playa Flamingo.

  • Visit the pink sand beach and take the day to rest and recharge.

Day 5: Explore Playa Flamingo

  • Take a birdwatching tour or chase waterfalls with a guide. A guide can help you spot wildlife that normally would just blend in.

  • Hop on a catamaran to snorkel the area. Fishing tours are also popular in this area.

Day 6: Transfer to Playa Hermosa

  • Spend your last day in the laid-back area of Playa Hermosa.

  • Take a guided tour of Santa Rosa National Park.

Day 7: Departure or optional extension

  • If departing, make sure to get to the LIR airport with plenty of time to check in and pass through security (30 mins from Playa Hermosa). Spend the flight home reminiscing about your rainforest adventures, and start planning your next visit to Costa Rica!;)

Need to know

Important Details:

1. Currency: The official currency of Costa Rica is the Costa Rican Colón (CRC). US dollars are widely accepted in most tourist areas, but it's advisable to carry local currency for smaller establishments and rural areas.

2. Language: Spanish is the official language of Costa Rica. While many locals speak English, especially in tourist areas, it's helpful to learn a few basic Spanish phrases.

3. Safety: Costa Rica is generally safe, but it's wise to take precautions like anywhere else. Avoid displaying expensive items, use reliable transportation and be careful in secluded areas.

4. Climate: Costa Rica experiences a tropical climate with two seasons — dry (December to April) and rainy (May to November). Pack lightweight clothing, rain gear and comfortable shoes for outdoor activities.
