I’ve spent countless trips here with my son, enjoying everything from feeding tarpon to exploring historical landmarks. It’s also been a special place for multi-generational vacations, where grandparents, parents and kids can all find something to love. With its walkable streets, family-friendly activities and laid-back vibe, Key West is a tropical paradise that truly makes traveling with children a breeze.

Things to do in Key West

Take a boat trip with Donnie

A must-do! Visit this iconic spot where you can hand-feed massive tarpon fish — an exciting, up-close experience with local wildlife that kids especially love.

Relax at Higgs Beach

With its laid-back vibe and calm waters, this is the perfect beach for swimming, sunbathing or even paddleboarding. There’s also a pier for sunset strolls.

Explore Fort Zachary Taylor State Park

  • Sandy’s Café: This small, no-frills, walk-up window restaurant serves amazing Cuban sandwiches and iced or hot café con leche. It’s open 24 hours, making it a lifesaver for early mornings with little kids.

  • Date & Thyme: A cozy organic café with healthy, delicious options like smoothies, fresh salads and acai bowls. Perfect for a refreshing pick-me-up. Casual outdoor picnic tables make it a great place to hang out with kids!
