Curator’s statement
St. Croix has a great mix of adventure and relaxation, all while taking in some history lessons. This island is one of the US Virgin Islands, so US travelers don't need to worry about a passport, yet driving is done on the left-hand side - one of the many surprising discoveries that can be explained by the island's history. It is a history that includes a visit by Christopher Columbus. Largely still undeveloped, St. Croix has many gems to be discovered. Whether you hike to the tidal pools along the northern shore, go snorkeling at Buck Island Reef National Monument or kayak at a bioluminescent bay, you are guaranteed to enjoy this island.

Things to do around St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands
Cane Bay Wall: Did you know that about 100 yards from shore, there is an underwater drop-off that reaches 13,200 feet? This means some of the most spectacular scuba diving can be found on St. Croix, both during the day and at night. There are multiple spectacular spots around the island.
Annaly Bay Tide Pools: The adventurous traveler will want to hike over to this gem and enjoy the beautiful natural-formed pools right on the coast.
Rainbow Beach: Just one of the several incredible beaches with translucent water and perfect sand where you can search for chaney — a unique Crucian treasure that can be purchased in many shops if you don't locate any.
Bioluminescent Bays: Take a glass-bottomed kayak out for an evening trip through one of the world's few magical bays. You won't regret it.
Fort Frederick: Explore this site from the Danish colonial period that later served as the site where the island's governor declared emancipation in 1848.
Distillery Tours: Visit the Cruzan Rum distillery or the Captain Morgan distillery for history and tastings. For a very local experience, try Leatherback Brewing Company.
Point Udall: Take a drive out to see wide ocean views and Buck Island out in the distance at this easternmost point of the United States.
Buccaneer Golf Course: Golfing on the edge of the ocean...yes, please! Grab some clubs and knock this off your bucket list.
Day trips
Buck Island Reef National Monument: Do yourself a favor and enjoy incredible snorkeling and a catamaran ride over to this beautiful island for the day.
