Curator’s statement
Jordan holds a special place in my heart for its rich history, archeological wonders, divine cuisine and welcoming locals. From the ancient marvels of Jerash and Petra to the captivating landscapes of Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea, Jordan's historical and natural wonders exceeded my wildest expectations. The contrast of modern Amman against the backdrop of ancient sites added an extra layer of fascination to the journey.

Day 1: Arrive in Jordan
Assuming you arrive in Jordan during the late afternoon or evening, your journey will begin the following day! Start your day in Amman with a hotel breakfast, usually included in most accommodations. Get picked up by Local Trips and embark on a 5-hour tour to Ajloun and Jerash.
After immersing yourself in the well-preserved ruins of Jerash, treat yourself to a delicious lunch at Cello Cafe & Restaurant. Your driver will then take you back to your hotel, leaving you with a free afternoon to explore Amman's charming neighborhoods. Wander through Jabal al Weibdeh, known for its bohemian vibes and vibrant cafes, or explore the famous Rainbow Street in Jabal Amman. Consider joining a food walking tour for a delightful culinary adventure. Wrap up your day with a satisfying dinner at Sufra Restaurant.
Day 2: Travel to Petra & the illuminated Treasury
Begin your day with a hotel breakfast and check-out. Your private driver will pick you up to make your way to Petra, taking the scenic King's Highway with highlight stops along the way.
Arrive in Petra, check-in, enjoy dinner, and prepare to witness the iconic Treasury illuminated by candlelight at 8PM. For dinner, indulge in the mouth watering flavors of My Mom's Recipe Restaurant.
Day 3 - Sunrise hike, explore Petra, dine at The Basin
Rise early to catch the sunrise and begin a hike to see the Treasury from above. Ensure you have a certified guide to accompany you for this experience. Savor a cup of tea in one of the Bedouin tents before descending to explore the majestic city of Petra. If you're not much of a hiker, you can explore the traditional way and start your visit at the visitor’s center. Here you’ll have the option to hire a guide for a couple of hours and then continue on your own to explore Petra at your own pace. Whichever way you choose to explore Petra, it promises to be a memorable and rewarding experience. Enjoy lunch at The Basin, located inside Petra, and I recommend dinner at Beit Al-Barakah restaurant.
Day 4: Explore Wadi Rum
Enjoy a slow morning and breakfast at the hotel before being picked up for the next leg of your journey. Check out and make your way to Wadi Rum where you can take a jeep or camel tour to see the highlights of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy a local lunch prepared by the friendly locals and conclude your tour by arriving at a hotel or traditional Bedouin camp for dinner and a night under the stars.
Day 5: Wadi Rum sunrise & Dead Sea relaxation
Wake up to the blissful atmosphere of Wadi Rum at sunrise. By far one of the best mornings I've experienced in my life! Enjoy breakfast at the hotel or camp and then check out to be transported to the Wadi Rum Rest House, where you will meet your driver. Head to wonderful Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea. Spend the afternoon relaxing by the Dead Sea and don't miss out on doing rejuvenating mud baths!
Day 6: Wadi Al Mujib adventure
If feeling adventurous, take a day trip excursion to Wadi Al Mujib, the lowest nature reserve in the world. Here you can do a self guided Siq Trail following a water stream deeper inside this cool canyon. Head back to your hotel and enjoy another relaxing by the dead sea.
Day 7: Amman exploration
Begin your day with one last floating dip in the Dead Sea and have breakfast with a breathtaking view. Check out and get picked up to make your way back to Amman. Arrive in Amman around midday and drop off your luggage at the recommended Intercontinental Amman hotel. Treat yourself to a lunch at the popular and delicious Hashem Restaurant before spending the afternoon exploring Amman's downtown, including the Roman Theater and the Citadel. Finish your journey and treat yourself to dinner at Jubran II.
A few things to note
Local Trips offers excellent budget-friendly private transport services. They have pre-established routes, yet they are highly accommodating and willing to tailor their services to meet your specific needs. I made this trip itinerary with my sister and we both felt very safe during our time in Jordan. The locals tend to stare but are extremely welcoming and kind.
Remember that Jordan is a muslim country and even though as a woman you don't need to cover up one should definitely dress respectful to avoid excessive staring. A spare scarf always comes in handy.
The best times to visit would be shoulder season April-May or September-October. When days are not too hot and nights are cool enough.
