Day 1: Explore Nassau’s culture & history

The island charm

  • Fly into: Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS), the main airport in Nassau.

  • Getting around: Taxis are readily available but can be pricey (confirm fares before riding). Rental cars are an option, but driving is on the left side. Scooters, bikes and golf carts are great for short distances. Water taxis can take you to Paradise Island.

Morning:

  • Arrive in Nassau and check into your hotel, resort or Airbnb.

  • Enjoy a Bahamian breakfast at Café Matisse or Crabs and Ting.

  • Visit Fort Fincastle and climb the Queen’s Staircase for a panoramic view.

Afternoon:

  • Explore the Pirates of Nassau Museum to learn about Nassau’s swashbuckling past.

  • Lunch at Arawak Cay (Fish Fry) for conch fritters and fresh seafood.

  • Visit the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas for a dose of Bahamian art and culture.

Evening:

  • Entry & travel requirements:

    Currency: The Bahamian Dollar (BSD) is equal to the US Dollar (USD), and both are widely accepted.

    Nassau is generally safe, but be mindful of petty theft, especially in crowded areas.

    Peak Season (December–April): Ideal weather but higher prices.
    Off-Season (June–November): Fewer crowds, lower prices, but it’s hurricane season.

    Light, breathable clothing (it’s hot year-round).
    Sunscreen & bug spray (essential for outdoor activities).
    Swimwear & water shoes (for beach days and excursions).

    Bahamians are relaxed, so expect island time (things may move slower).
