Things to do at Walt Disney World, Florida

Unmatched convenience and transportation

Staying on property at Walt Disney World means you’re just steps — or minutes — away from the theme parks. Eliminating the need to worry about traffic, parking or navigating an unfamiliar area. Disney offers free transportation from each resort, including buses, monorails, boats and my personal favorite, the Skyliner. These convenient options make getting to the theme parks from your hotel quick and easy.

Exclusive early theme park entry

When you stay on property, you get exclusive access to the parks 30 minutes before the general public. Simply swipe your room key or MagicBand, and you can enjoy popular attractions with shorter wait times before the crowds arrive. It’s a total game-changer — I was able to ride Tower of Terror twice without waiting in line!

Extended evening hours

In addition to early park entry, guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resorts or Deluxe Villas can take advantage of extended evening hours. This exclusive perk allows you night-owls to enjoy select attractions after the parks have closed to the general public. Giving you even more time to experience the magic.

Complimentary water park admission in 2025

Starting in 2025, guests staying at Disney Resort Collection hotels will receive complimentary admission to Disney’s water parks on their check-in day. Adding even more value and fun to your vacation experience.

Lightning Lane access up to 7 days in advance

On-property guests can purchase Lightning Lane access up to 7 days before their stay. Allowing you to skip the lines for popular attractions throughout your visit (up to 14 days). This early booking opportunity is an exclusive advantage for making the most of your time in the parks.

Book dining reservations 60 days in advance

Guests with a valid Disney Resort hotel reservation can make dining reservations for their entire stay (up to 10 nights) up to 60 days in advance. This streamlined planning means you can secure all your dining spots on the same day, without worrying about availability day by day. Off-property guests can also book dining 60 days in advance but must do so one day at a time.

Immersive resort themes

Each Disney Resort offers a unique, immersive experience. Whether you’re staying at the luxurious Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, the adventurous Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge or the tropical Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, you’ll be transported to another world. Staying on property means you’re always surrounded by Disney’s magic, even when you're not in the parks.

MagicBands for a seamless experience

As a Disney Resort guest, you can utilize your MagicBand as your all-in-one solution for managing your vacation. It serves as your room key, park ticket, payment method, and even allows you to interact with special Disney Park features, making your entire experience seamless and hassle-free.

Complimentary resort activities and entertainment

Disney Resorts offer a variety of unique activities and entertainment options, including poolside movies, trivia contests, arts and crafts and more. These free or low-cost activities add an extra layer of magic and fun to your downtime, whether you're unwinding after a busy day in the parks or enjoying a relaxing morning.

Proximity to Disney Springs

Staying on property gives you quick and easy access to Disney Springs, a vibrant area filled with shopping, dining and entertainment. A short bus or boat ride from your resort takes you to this lively destination. Here you can explore Disney-inspired boutiques, enjoy live performances and dine at top-tier restaurants.

Places to eat & drink at Walt Disney World, Florida

I have a few favorite places to eat and drink at Walt Disney World, both within the theme parks and at the resorts. If you're looking for a great character breakfast, my top two picks are Topolino’s Terrace at the Riviera Resort and 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian.

I’m not one to sit down for a long lunch while at the theme parks — I prefer to keep the day moving. Instead, I like to focus on planning out my dinners.

At Magic Kingdom, my top choices are Cinderella’s Royal Table for those who love princesses. Also try Tony’s Town Square Restaurant, which offers crowd-pleasing Italian fare, all themed around Lady and the Tramp.

At Hollywood Studios, a new favorite of mine is Roundup Rodeo BBQ, or you can’t go wrong with the classic Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant for a fun, nostalgic experience.

At EPCOT, I’m a big fan of Teppan Edo, where you can enjoy a lively hibachi-style meal with the family.

Since Animal Kingdom closes early, I recommend skipping dinner there. Instead, head over to Disney Springs for a great dinner — The Boathouse is perfect for waterfront dining, or you can enjoy a laid-back meal at Summer House Santa Monica.

Need to know

Planning a Disney vacation can be exciting, but let’s face it — it’s also incredibly complicated! From booking fast passes to figuring out where to eat, when to go and what to do, there’s so much to consider. Disney’s many theme parks, resorts and dining options can easily overwhelm even the most seasoned travelers. Don't hesitate to reach out for help in planning this amazing but overwhelming experience!
