If you're anything like me, you love to travel to destinations known for delectable delicacies. Baltimore is definitely one of my favorites, although I may be biased because I was born there. To get the best steamed blue crabs and shrimp, Baltimore is the place to be. Seafood is certainly a Baltimore thing. Baltimore offers a variety of seafood, soul food and international cuisine. It's a foodie's paradise.
Baltimore's culinary scene is renowned for its iconic dishes and different flavors. Here are some highlights:
Steamed Blue Crabs: A Baltimore staple, these crabs are often seasoned with Old Bay and enjoyed with butter and cold beer. The experience of a summer crab feast is unmatched.
Crab Cakes: Famous for their minimal fillers and maximum flavor, Baltimore's crab cakes are a must-try. Faidley's Seafood in Lexington Market is a legendary spot for these.
Berger Cookies: These soft, cake-like cookies topped with rich fudge frosting have been a local favorite since 1835.
Crab Dip: Found in many forms, from traditional to creative variations like crab dip on fries or pretzels, this dish showcases Baltimore's love for seafood.
Orange Crushes: This refreshing drink, made with fresh-squeezed orange juice, vodka, triple sec and crushed ice, is a local favorite, especially in the summer.
Beyond seafood, Baltimore's food scene includes soul food, international cuisine and innovative dishes that reflect the city's eclectic tastes. Whether you're exploring historic public markets, trendy food halls or cozy neighborhood eateries, Baltimore offers a culinary adventure for every palate.
