Curator’s statement
Kimberly spent five months studying dance in Florence, Italy, in the spring of 2021. In April she and her boyfriend headed to Verona for a romantic couples getaway. They immediately fell in love with this beautiful city and the river flowing straight through it. Great food, attractions and gelato await you and your partner for a weekend in Verona and I promise "parting will be such sorrow" when it is time to leave. Don't skip Verona on your next trip to Italy!

Day 1: Explore Verona
Take an early morning train ride and arrive in Verona. Check into your hotel and drop off your stuff. Set up an official walking tour or start exploring on your own.
This is a beautiful city to just take in the atmosphere, people watch and take in the historic architecture, beautiful piazzas and local culture. Definitely stop by Piazza Bra, Piazza del Erbe and walk along the gorgeous flowing river. There are so many picture opportunities.
First head to the House of Juliet. Here you will find the famous Romeo and Juliet balcony and museum. It is a little cheesy and not necessarily historically accurate, but given that my boyfriend and I are both actors and have studied Shakespeare, it was a cute experience. You can visit the courtyard for free, but you must purchase a ticket in advance for 6 Euros to access the house, museum and balcony. There is also a little red box where people from all around the world write letters to Giuletta, just like in the movie! Don't forget to take the famous picture!
Just nearby climb to the top of Torre dei Lamberti, built in 1172, to see beautiful views of Verona. Buy your tickets in advance. It is 84 meters tall and overlooks the historic city of Verona with a 360 ° view. You can climb the 368 stairs or take the elevator.
Continue exploring the city and head over to Piazza Bra. Stop by Gelateria Savoia, founded in 1939 for the best gelato in Verona! They have traditional gelato and semifreddo, which is delicious.
Head to your dinner reservations at Dari Ristorante and Entoca. The entire restaurant has an intimate and romantic atmosphere and you have your choice to sit inside or outside. Perfect for a date! I highly recommend ordering the dishes that are made with Amarone wine (Risotto, Veal cheek) which is local wine from the region. Don't skip dessert!
Enjoy a romantic walk back to your hotel along the river.
Day 2: Roman Theatre & more
Grab a coffee and a pastry to get fueled up for another day of romance and exploring. Pasticceria Flego is a great option.
Start the day by visiting the Verona Arena. Built for gladiators in the 1st century AD, it actually predates the colosseum and is still used for shows today. Check the website to see if there is a show happening while you are there! Buy your tickets in advance for just two euros.
Stroll across the river while you head to Teatro Romano to explore the museum and historic theater ruins. It was built around the end of the 1st century B.C. The remains include the stage, the orchestra, the auditorium and some galleries. As always, buy your tickets in advance.
Then nearby, head up the Funicolare di Verona for the best views of the city. This is a small gondola that only takes a few minutes to reach Colle San Pietro which has sweeping 360 views. From here you can do some walks, have food and drink or take some pictures, enjoy the view and head back down. This is a unique and unmissable experience! The best part is it is only three euros for a round trip ticket! Maybe you can even catch the sunset!
Eat, drink and enjoy Verona with the person you love for the rest of the night!
