Things to do in St. Andrews, Scotland
St. Andrews is a golfer's paradise, and is home to the most famous golf course in the world, The Old Course at St Andrew's Links. Along with other golf courses at St. Andrews, the area boasts many other famous and widely-known courses, including Carnoustie Golf Links, Kingbarnes Golf Links, and Gleneagles. The city of St. Andrews serves well as a home base to stay and play all of these courses.
Besides golfing, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery while hiking the coast, or head north and discover the beauty of northern Scotland. There is so much history in the castles you can tour, and you can even visit the National William Wallace Monument.
Some noteworthy places include visiting and hiking around Balmoral Castle, stopping for a whiskey tasting at Glenlivet, or seeing the beautiful peninsulas of Isle of Skye.
If you want to visit a bustling city, head to Edinburgh. There you can submerse yourself in the history of the Edinburgh castle, St. Giles Cathedral, and Holyrood Palace.

The Dunvegan: A lively, golf-themed bar and restaurant with framed pictures of famous visitors lining the walls. Get a pint of beer along with their fish and chips or steak and ale pie!
La Cucina: Looking for fabulous Italian food in Scotland? Head to La Cucina inside the beautiful Fairmont St Andrews. Enjoy an appetizer and get the lasagna- it's delicious!
St. Andrews Bay Clubhouse & Grill: Overlooking the North Sea, this grill has panoramic views along with fantastic food. Give the scallops a try!
Cromars Fish and Chips: Looking for a quick but authentic fish and chips meal? Go to Cromars. It's a walk up, order, and take out restaurant, but their fish and chips speak for itself.
The Saint: Great dinner spot with excellent food, cozy atmosphere, and plenty of specialty drinks to choose from!
Forgan's: A unique, European vibe with great food. It's located on a main street in St Andrews, where there is plenty to do and see.
18, Rusacks: Located on the top floor of Rusacks Hotel, visit this for an elegant dinner, or stop by for a cocktail. The views from the rooftop are unbeatable, as it overlooks the 18th hole of the Old Course.
The Jigger Inn: Overlooking the famous 18th hole of the Old Course, this quaint pub is a great spot to stop for a cocktail or pint of beer. Sit and enjoy the views, and watch the golfers tackle the last hole of the oldest golf course in the world.
