Curator’s statement

Phuket holds a special place in my heart. I spent two months living within its breathtaking natural beauty, vibrant culture and made unforgettable memories. Its picturesque landscapes and crystal-clear waters provided the stage for one of the most incredible trips I’ve taken in my life. Whether it's the tranquility of its secluded coves or the lively atmosphere of its bustling markets, Phuket has continually captivated me with its charm and diversity. Beyond its natural beauty, the warmth and hospitality of its people have left an indelible mark on my soul. In Phuket, I've found not just a destination, but a sanctuary where I can truly unwind, connect with nature and immerse myself in the wonders of Southeast Asia. Phuket is the perfect destination for a first time visit to Thailand.

The Big Buddha Statue is a towering symbol of peace and spirituality. This majestic 148-foot-tall statue sits atop Nakkerd Hill and offers beautiful panoramic views of the island. Built with reinforced concrete and layered with Burmese white marble, the statue is a testament to Thai craftsmanship and Buddhist devotion. My visit had me in awe at this incredible site.

Bangla Road: Bangla Road is THE epicenter of nightlife in Phuket. Located in the bustling Patong Beach area, it's famous for its energetic atmosphere, neon lights and bustling crowds. Lined with bars, nightclubs and street vendors. Bangla Road comes alive after sunset, offering the type of entertainment you often see on television. With bright neon lights, live music, gogo bars and international DJs spinning beats at mega clubs. Its lively ambiance and diverse offerings make it the go to destination for partygoers and travelers seeking a taste of Phuket's nightlife scene. Some people say, what happens on Bangla Road, stays on Bangla Road!

Situated on the west coast of the island, the beach stretches for approximately 2.5 kilometers and is lined with hotels, restaurants, bars and shops, which create a vibrant and bustling atmosphere. The soft, golden sand stretches for about a kilometer, with lush green hills on both sides. The turquoise waters are perfect for swimming, snorkeling and various water sports. Kata Beach is divided into two sections: Kata Yai (Big Kata) and Kata Noi (Little Kata). While Kata Yai is more popular and bustling with activities, Kata Noi offers a quieter, more secluded experience. Nai Haran Beach: Nai Harn Beach is a hidden gem nestled in the southern part of Phuket. This crescent-shaped beach boasts soft white sand and crystal-clear waters. Unlike some of the more crowded beaches in Phuket, Nai Harn has a tranquil and unspoiled charm, making it a favorite among locals and travelers seeking a peaceful beach day. The gentle waves and shallow waters make it suitable for swimming and snorkeling, while the surrounding area offers opportunities for hiking and exploring nature trails. The Nai Haran is an incredible hotel right on the beach, and has a few beachfront restaurants serving delicious Thai cuisine, Nai Harn Beach provides the perfect setting for a peaceful beach day.

Freedom Beach: Situated on the southwestern coast of Phuket, Freedom Beach is a secluded paradise accessible only by boat or a short hike through the jungle. This pristine stretch of shoreline is renowned for its untouched beauty, white sands, crystal-clear waters and lush tropical jungle surroundings. As its name suggests, Freedom Beach offers a peaceful retreat away from the crowds, making it the ideal place for relaxation and rejuvenation. Visitors can swim, sunbathe or snorkel in the calm turquoise waters, admiring the colorful marine life and coral reefs beneath the surface. Places to eat & drink in Phuket, Thailand

Dishes to Try in Thailand, they can be spiced to your taste. These dishes are available almost everywhere in Phuket, from street corners to fine dining restaurants.

Pad Thai. Pad Thai is THE iconic street food classic, a blend of stir-fried rice noodles intertwined with shrimp, tofu or chicken. The noodles are wok-tossed with eggs, bean sprouts and a tamarind-based sauce that melds sweet, sour and spicy in perfect proportions. Hints of fish sauce and palm sugar deepen the umami flavor, while fresh lime and a sprinkling of peanuts offer zest and crunch. Garnished with fresh scallions and a dash of chili flakes, each bite of Pad Thai is a flavorful homage to Thailand's dynamic street food culture, offering comfort and excitement in equal measure.

Papaya Salad (Som Tum) Papaya Salad, or Som Tum, is a vibrant collision of textures and flavors. The perfect appetizer, the refreshing crunch of green papaya shreds forms the backbone of this dish. Tossed with a dressing of lime juice, fish sauce and a touch of sugar, the salad hits a harmonious balance of tangy, salty and sweet. Chili peppers can add a fiery kick, while crushed peanuts introduce a nutty richness and an option of dried shrimp lends a subtle umami depth. Each mouthful is a tantalizing journey through Thailand's rich culinary traditions.

Green Curry (Gaeng Keow Wan): Green Curry is a luxurious and aromatic dish that showcases the complex intersection of herbs and spices in Thai cuisine. This curry is distinguished by its vibrant green hue, achieved through a paste of green chilies, fresh coriander and Thai basil. Simmered with creamy coconut milk, the curry develops a luscious and rich texture that coats the chicken or beef and a medley of vegetables. The heat from the chilies is tempered by the sweetness of the coconut milk, creating a wonderfully balanced dish that dances between spicy, sweet and savory. Best paired with jasmine rice or rice noodles.

Tom Kha (Coconut Milk Soup): Tom Kha is my ultimate comfort food. It is a rich coconut milk soup that blends the rich creaminess of coconut milk with the invigorating sharpness of galangal and lemongrass. Infused with the citrus flavor of kaffir lime leaves and the subtle heat of fresh chilies, the broth is a fragrant and flavorful base. Tender pieces of chicken or seafood float alongside mushrooms, absorbing the soup’s aromatic qualities. A final touch of lime juice adds a bright, tangy finish, elevating the creamy richness to a new level of sophistication. Tom Kha is a bowl of comfort and complexity, a perfect representation of the delicate balance and depth that can only be found in Thai cuisine.

The Treehouse Restaurant & Beach Club: The Tree House Restaurant & Beach Club Phuket overlooks a pool lagoon. It has multi-levels. The restaurant and bar serves salads, burgers, Thai and International dishes, while the bar serves a complete range of drinks from juices to cocktails. They also hold special events DJ dance evenings.

Relax on plush loungers by our serene pool, nestled amidst swaying palm trees, offering captivating panoramas of the shoreline and ocean. Embrace the laid-back ambiance of Ibiza fused with the vibrant energy of Phuket, fostering a spirit of togetherness through our weekly gatherings and gastronomic adventures curated by renowned chefs.

Tann Terrace Beach Club: Tann Terrace is an incredible beachfront restaurant and lounge catering to those in pursuit of a wonderful beachside dining experience. The expansive beach club has panoramic views of the Andaman Sea, perfect for witnessing breathtaking sunsets while luxuriating on our comfortable sunbeds. The menu offers a diverse array of international cuisines from four corners of the world. As night falls, immerse yourself in the lively ambiance of the bar, where skilled mixologists craft exquisite cocktails, premium spirits flow and a splendid champagne menu awaits your indulgence.

3 Monkeys: 3 Monkeys serves authentic Thai cuisine in an incredible, warm atmosphere. Many of the dishes are served family style. The soft, warm lighting and mellow Thai music offer a unique and incredible dining experience.

Black Ginger: Black Ginger is housed in an old mansion at the Slate Resort. A fine dining establishment, I enjoyed Chef Piak’s specialties including som tam, tom yum and phanaeng curry.

Blue Elephant in Phuket Town: Another fine dining establishment, Blue Elephant is housed in an old Governor’s mansion. They also offer cooking classes, which is definitely something worth doing! The menu consists of authentic southern Thai food. The menu is changing often because of the fresh, local ingredients used. The quality of the food was incredible.

Kan Eang at Pier: This restaurant had some of the best seafood I have ever eaten, which is their specialty. You will find yourself enveloped by the glistening embrace of the Andaman Sea, nestled within this picturesque setting lies a utopia for seafood aficionados Kan Eang at The Pier stands out as an unrivaled destination for indulging in the finest seafood feasts. This renowned waterfront eatery, with its open-air ambiance, has earned widespread acclaim throughout Thailand for its unparalleled culinary creations showcasing all the sea has to offer.
