Curator’s statement
Las Vegas, known as "The Entertainment Capital of the World" and "Sin City", might be one of the last destinations that you would consider taking teenagers, but it might surprise you how much there is for them to see and do. Besides all the famous Cirque du Soleil and magic shows at almost every major hotel in Las Vegas, there are plenty of activities that you can do with your teenagers while traveling Las Vegas. Here are my 10 favorite activities that you can do in one day (you can even combine two activities on the same day). There are, of course, many hiking adventures nearby in Zion and Bryce National Parks, but those require more than one day to fully enjoy.

Things to do in Las Vegas
Attractions on (or near) the Strip:
Sphere
Opened in September 2023, this Entertainment Venue in the form of a Sphere, has hundreds of thousands of LED lights that form screens on the outside and inside of the structure, creating the world's largest hi-def screen. New technology was developed to create the images and videos seen inside the Sphere. Currently, an immersive film is showing called Postcards from Earth by Daren Aronofsky. U2 had been giving concerts as part of their Atchung Baby Tour, and Phish is scheduled for April 2024.
Want to have a direct view of the Sphere from your hotel room? The Palazzo is the place.
The Big Apple Coaster
Inside the New York Hotel and Casino. A rollercoaster that goes over 67mph on the world’s first coaster to feature a 180-degree “heartline” twist and dive maneuver and a 203ft drop.
Thrill Rides at The STRAT
For the adrenaline rush seekers, there are two attractions at The Strat, one that shoots straight up 160 ft. in the air at 45 mph called Big Shot and a roller coaster ride like no other that teeter totters you over the edge of the Tower from 866 ft. high called X-Scream.
The Neon Museum
Displaying over 250 retired signs of casinos and businesses from all over town, the Neon Museum offers a peek into old Vegas. On a tour through the museum's two-acre courtyard, you’ll see gigantic, glitzy signs and learn more about their history. A very Instagrammable spot, for those interested in growing their social content.
Omega Mart
The newest interactive experience from the groundbreaking art collective, Meow Wolf. Marvel at the work of international and local artists as you embark on a journey through surreal worlds and immersive storytelling. Discover secret portals as you venture into parts unknown. Get lost in (and beyond) aisles of whimsical products and difficult spills at Omega Mart, the exhibition that invites “shoppers” to explore beyond the store and uncover interactive artscapes from local and international artists. Keep your eyes peeled for the not-so-secret bar!
Go by Car, Tour or Helicopter:
Hoover Dam
Built in the 1930s, Hoover Dam controls the water flow of the Colorado River and creates energy to supply parts of California, Arizona and Colorado. An architectural masterpiece offers daily visitor tours. You can go down (about 60 stories) to its base to see theturbines; thee size of the base is as long as two football fields (Located about one hour away by car from the Las Vegas Strip.)
Red Rock Canyon
Red Rock Canyon features a one-way 13-mile scenic drive with many hiking trails to explore (Located about 30 minutes away by car from Las Vegas Strip.)
Grand Canyon West Rim Skywalk
The massive and spectacular Grand Canyon can be seen from a 10 ft-wide glass bridge. (Located about two hours away by car from the Las Vegas Strip, there are helicopter tours from Las Vegas that can take you to the Skywalk)
Grand Canyon by Helicopter
My favorite way to experience and absorb the majesty of the Grand Canyon, an incredible experience! The flight to and over the Grand Canyon takes around 40 minutes each way, with a 30-minute landing time at 3,500 ft below the Grand Canyon rim for some champagne and snacks.
ATV and Razor Off-Road Tours
With so much desert around Las Vegas, what better way to explore it with your teenagers than with an ATV or Razor tour.
Note: Drivers must be over 18.
