Curator’s statement

Doha has a special space in my heart because it's this fascinating mix of tradition and modernity, all set against the backdrop of stunning desert vistas and futuristic skyscrapers. But what really stands out is how safe and secure I felt, especially as a woman, wandering around the city. Whether it's the well-lit streets or the friendly vibe, Doha just gets it right when it comes to making everyone feel welcome and at ease, making my time here feel like a home away from home.

Things to do in Doha

A person traverses a spacious square at dusk, flanked by traditional buildings and distant modern skyscrapers.
  • Museum of Islamic Art: Designed by the same designer as the glass pyramid at the Louvre, this museum is a work of art. Set across five floors of permanent and temporary exhibitions, gift shop, a café and an haute cuisine restaurant.

  • National Museum of Qatar: Even if you're not a history fan, this museum is worth a visit. The architecture alone will have you snapping pics left and right.

  • Souq Waqif: Get lost in the maze of this traditional market. Souq Waqif comes alive in the evenings, and you can find everything from spices to souvenirs here. Plus, the food stalls are a must-try.

  • Dhow Cruise: Picture this: sailing on a traditional wooden dhow as the sun sets over the beautiful Doha skyline. It's like something out of a movie. Book your cruise and thank me later!

  • Katara Cultural Village: This place is a vibe with a cool blend of tradition and modern flair. It has art, performances and stunning views. The beach is also right there which is a nice bonus!

  • Inland Sea: Want to escape the city? Head to the desert and soak in the beauty of the Inland Sea. Sand dunes for days and activities like camel riding, sandboarding and dune bashing—it's a blast!

  • Aspire Park: Need some downtime? This park is perfect for a leisurely stroll or a chill picnic. Trust me, it's a breath of fresh air in the city.

Places to eat & drink in Doha

A waterfront dining experience with a view of the illuminated city skyline at night, inviting a moment of urban tranquility.
  • IDAM by Alain Ducasse: Treat yourself to some fancy French-Mediterranean cuisine with a view. It's a splurge, but so-worth-it!

  • Al Mourjan: Craving Lebanese? This spot has you covered. The meze spread here is out of this world.

  • La Mar Doha: Get ready for a flavor explosion with Peruvian cuisine. The ceviche? To die for.

  • Nobu Doha: Japanese-Peruvian fusion? Yes, please! The black cod miso is a must-try.

  • Argan Restaurant: Transport your taste buds to Morocco with some authentic tagines and couscous.

  • Spice Market: Spice up your life with some Southeast Asian flavors. The ambiance here is as vibrant as the food.

  • The Anvil Rooms: Steak lovers, rejoice! This place serves up some of the juiciest cuts in town.
