Day 1: West End Theaters

  1. Royal Opera House

    • Location: Covent Garden, London WC2E 9DD

    • Highlights: Experience world-class opera and ballet performances in this iconic venue.

    • Tip: Book tickets in advance for popular productions to secure the best seats. I'm a huge fan of ballet and was lucky enough to purchase tickets to Swan Lake the day before the production. Next time I go, I'm buying tickets several weeks in advance!

  2. The Old Vic

    • Location: The Cut, Lambeth, London SE1 8NB

    • Highlights: Known for its diverse repertoire ranging from Shakespearean classics to contemporary dramas.

    • Tip: Check out their website for special events and behind-the-scenes tours. After the show, walk over to The Graffiti Tunnel for some Instagrammable photos!

  3. The Globe Theatre

    • Location: 21 New Globe Walk, London SE1 9DT

    • Highlights: Immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of Shakespearean theater in this faithful reconstruction of the original Globe Theatre.

    • Tip: This is an outdoor theater, so dress appropriately for the weather and consider bringing a cushion for the wooden benches. I personally think buying a ticket in the standing-room only section is the way to go for the full experience.

  4. National Theatre

    • Location: South Bank, London SE1 9PX

    • Highlights: Enjoy a wide range of productions across three auditoriums, including classic plays, new writing, and experimental performances.

    • Tip: Take advantage of the NT Live screenings to catch performances broadcast live from the theater.

Day 2: West End Theaters Continued

    • Location: Sloane Square, London SW1W 8AS

    • Highlights: Renowned for its pioneering new writing and contemporary productions, The Royal Court Theatre offers an eclectic mix of thought-provoking works.

    • Tip: Enjoy pre-show drinks and snacks at their stylish bar and café, or explore nearby Chelsea for charming cafes and boutiques.

  2. West End Theatres (Various)

    • Location: Leicester Square, Covent Garden, and Piccadilly Circus

    • Highlights: Immerse yourself in the glitz and glamour of London's West End, where a plethora of theaters showcase blockbuster musicals, classic plays, and star-studded performances.

    • Tip: Visit the TKTS booth in Leicester Square for same-day discounted tickets, and don't miss the opportunity to dine at one of the area's many fantasticr estaurants before the show. Be sure to stop for a pint at The Coach & Horses, Soho!

  3. The London Coliseum

    • Location: St Martin's Lane, London WC2N 4ES

    • Highlights: Experience the grandeur of The London Coliseum, home to the English National Opera. With its stunning Edwardian architecture and diverse repertoire, it promises a night of unforgettable operatic and ballet performances.

    • Tip: Book your tickets early to secure prime seats, and consider exploring the vibrant Covent Garden neighborhood nearby for pre-show dining and entertainment options. I definitely recommend Xi Home Dumplings Bay - order all of the dumplings.

  4. Apollo Victoria Theatre

    • Location: 17 Wilton Rd, Pimlico, London SW1V 1LG

    • Highlights: Step into the enchanting world of the Apollo Victoria Theatre, where the spellbinding musical "Wicked" continues to captivate audiences with its spectacular production.

    • Tip: Ensure you book your tickets in advance to secure the best seats for this magical theatrical experience, and indulge in pre-show drinks at the theater's elegant bar.

Day 3: Day Trip to Stratford-upon-Avon

Royal Shakespeare Theatre

  • Location: Waterside, Stratford-upon-Avon CV37 6BB - only two hours from Central London!

  • Highlights: Visit the birthplace of William Shakespeare and attend a performance by the renowned Royal Shakespeare Company in this modern theater complex overlooking the River Avon. I'm lucky enough to have seen "The Winter's Tale" at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, and it was such a fabulous time!

  • Tip: Explore Shakespeare's Birthplace, Anne Hathaway's Cottage, and other historic sites in Stratford-upon-Avon before or after the show. If you want to stay in Stratford-upon-Avon after the performance, I recommend Swan's Nest Hotel.
