Curator’s statement
The Peloponnese is beautiful and diverse, yet remains a lesser-known side of Greece. Most visitors think of Greece as a summer destination and the image of a cliffside, white-washed villages, solitary churches with blue domes and endless views of the Aegean Sea seems to be the dominant one. As uniquely enchanting as the greek islands are, my guide will show you that Greece can be enjoyed year round as theres plenty on offer in the mainland from stylish, secluded beach resorts to, hidden away, designer mountain retreats which are home to award winning spas and one of a kind, culinary experiences.

Manna Arcadia
This newly opened (July 2023) mountain retreat and spa is quickly gaining traction for its beautifully designed interiors, its peaceful surroundings (forest) and its offering of diverse and one of a kind experiences in the mountainous Arcadia.
Its history is rich as the building used to be a Sanitarium. The design team behind the renovation are hoping that their earthy colored tones, their soft, delicate furnishings and their abundant forest and lake views will bring guests the same sense of peace and escape as its former residents.
The rooms themselves are spacious and feel upscale. The furniture a perfect mix of bleached yet warm timber and forest green toned fabrics. The views — breathtaking.
The brand new restaurant has been positively received for its innovation and use of sustainable, locally and farm-sourced produce.
Its experiences on offer, many and diverse-most centered around relaxation&reconnection with nature. Rafting on the river nearby is an option for the more adventurous types! The Japanese style influenced spa&cave pool will be fully operational in September.
It is a year-round destination! I can only imagine how beautiful the pine forest surrounding it will look with the first fall of snow!
Euphoria Retreat: A Holistic Wellbeing Destination Spa
Similar to Manna, this is our second mountain hotel. Euphoria is set on the hilltop of Mystras. A visit to the historic town is a must. The resort is perfect for a couples getaway, a girls trip or for the solo traveler who needs to press pause and restart. The building pays respect to the region's architecture yet feels modern and contained. The smaller separate buildings give a sense of a village rather than a huge resort.
The spa has adopted a holistic, healing and individualistic approach. Programs are designed by experts and combine food, treatments, activities and facilities to provide one of the leading European health-focused holidays.
Stays start from one night, but we suggest taking advantage of a longer program so you can really feel the change both mentally and physically!
The rooms are big, comfy and the bathrooms feel luxurious. The expansive views will help you relax and ground yourself in the natural surroundings. The vast spa facilities include several therapeutic pools and treatment rooms as well as relaxation areas and a beautiful infinity outdoor pool with loungers. Hiking and other daily activities are on offer.
Are you ready to start your soulful and spiritually harmonizing journey?
Dexamenes: A Seaside Hotel
The modern, mainly concrete, beachfront resort used to be a postwar winery. It is located in Amaliada and has been beautifully and respectfully transformed into a conscious, sustainable - luxury property by the award winning K-studio architects and is situated on one of the few remaining, unspoiled stretches of coastline in the western Peloponnese.
Its the perfect seaside escape! Ideal for romantic weekend getaways or as part of a honeymoon tour of Greece. Wine lovers will enjoy the wine tasting on offer and touring the nearby vineyards. Friends on a roadtrip will make the most of its relaxing surroundings. Its most distinctive features are the huge, repurposed oil tanks which house seasonal art installations and events or can be hired for a private dinner.
There are three room types and its definitely worth splurging for the ocean view option. All rooms come with private courtyards and minimalistic industrial outdoor furniture. If you do go for the front row, sea view ones, you will want to stay there all day till the sun goes down in front of your eyes, staring at the endless blue, not a care in the world!
The room interiors are again modern, minimal and functional in design, but the bed is extremely comfy and the shower enclosure is as big as the average London bathroom (maybe even bigger…)
The food at the restaurant both at breakfast and lunch&dinner is exceptional! Portions are above generous. Local cuisine is elevated with a modern twist and attention to detail and presentation.
The beach is clean and the water is crystal clear. There are loungers and shade provided free of charge. September and May are my favorite months to visit as none of the bigger beach clubs and bars nearby are open at that time, making the resort feel like its set on a private beach.
Ancient Olympia, which is not to be missed, is a short drive away so you can combine relaxation with sightseeing.
Kinsterna Hotel
A beautifully repurposed Byzantine Mansion turned boutique hotel. Rich in history both for its location, and for facing the Unesco-protected, world famous, Rock of Monemvasia, which used to be a Venetian Fort.
The rooms are traditional in design in-keeping with the original architecture, yet offer all the modern comforts and cloud-like mattresses. Our bathroom had a double rain shower and our balcony opened up to a full sea view.
The main feature is an old cistern which now forms part of the inner courtyard that connects various parts of the hotel. Theres a secluded infinity pool for adults and a more open, family-friendly linear pool that resembles the shape of a flowing river with shallow ends for younger kids to play safely.
The main attraction of this resort, apart from its beautiful design and several dining options (including an upscale restaurant) is its huge array of activities on offer both for couples and families. Theres something for everyone from bread making classes to bee keeping workshops to horseback riding, biking and board games.
Open almost year round Kisterna is popular in the summer due to its proximity both to Monemvasia and several gorgeous clean beaches (ex. Elafonisi) yet its also perfect to spend the Christmas or New Years break as special activities and packages are on offer during the holidays.
100 Rizes Luxury Seaside Resort
A luxury seafront escape in Gytheio, part of the well-known Mani peninsula. Perfect for families and couples alike.
Parents can benefit from its proximity to the sea and couples will enjoy a true opportunity to unwind and spend quality time with each other having no need to leave the resort other than to seek more dining options.
The resort is set in an olive grove of 100 trees! The architecture is traditional, rock is the main material used and the designers have taken advantage of the abundant natural light and sea views to showcase the areas best on offer. The accommodation is luxurious, providing comfortable beds and sofas as well as several in room open fire places.
The beach is stunning, sandy with shallow and turquoise, clear blue waters. Loungers are on offer.
Dining options are a little limited, but several picturesque towns are in its proximity where you can enjoy stunning views and homemade local cuisine! Limeni and Kardamyli being two examples!
Theres a beautiful refreshing swimming pool with loungers and several tress provide extra natural shade.
Its very reasonable pricing makes this an attractive option for travelers who enjoy the finer things in life but are also budget-conscious.
Mandarin Oriental
The newly opened (August 2023) Mandarin Oriental is set in the grounds of the already famous, Costa Navarino Golf&Resort.
One of the chain’s most well and sustainably conscious designed hotels, it has a privileged location as its set meters away from
The beautiful beach of Navarino Dunes.
Its starting price point may appear prohibitive to the average traveler but it sure will satisfy the most demanding visitors seeking complete privacy while enjoying the usual 5-star services and amenities they’ve come to expect from an MO property.
This is a resort I have not visited myself just yet, but I'm highlighting it as one to watch!
The design is earthy, luxurious and sustainable (the hillside rooms have green roofs) . The rooms feel a peaceful and tranquil experience with mesmerizing views.
Theres a couple of huge beachfront swimming pools and several high end dining options.
The resort is perfect for all kinds of high end travelers and there is definitely enough to keep the kids entertained if you fancy enjoying a round of golf or play a tennis set at the newly opened Mouratoglou Academy (several major athletes have trained under Mouratoglou’s supervision in its French campus.)
