Curator’s statement
Having lived in Orlando for the past six years, I've had the privilege of witnessing the city's remarkable transformation. Once primarily recognized for its iconic theme parks, such as Disney World and Universal Studios, Orlando has now developed a vibrant culinary identity of its own. While the theme parks continue to be major attractions, I'd like to draw attention to the burgeoning food scene, which has seen significant growth and diversification. As a local, it's been incredibly rewarding to observe this culinary evolution, showcasing that Orlando has much more to offer beyond its renowned theme parks.

Places to eat & drink in Orlando
Victoria & Albert's: This establishment is often referred to as the pinnacle of fine dining in Orlando, boasting a legacy that spans decades. Widely regarded as the premier restaurant within the Walt Disney World Resort, it also carries the distinction of being the most lavish, with prices reaching upwards of $400 per person, exclusive of gratuity or beverage pairings. Access to this dining experience is by reservation only, and securing a spot can be challenging—especially for those not staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, where guests receive priority booking. For those eager to indulge in this exclusive culinary adventure, it's advisable to make reservations as early as possible, either by booking online the moment slots become available or by calling right at opening time, 10 a.m..
The cuisine here is nothing short of extraordinary, rivaling that of two or three-star Michelin establishments. It involves intricate, time-consuming techniques that are challenging to execute, ensuring each dish is not only a delight to taste but also a masterpiece to behold. The presentation of the food is exceptionally beautiful, and the décor complements this with its intimate and classic ambiance, transporting diners to a setting reminiscent of dining with Victorian royalty at the queen's palace. It's an experience that marries culinary excellence with an atmosphere of opulent historical elegance.
Kadence: This restaurant stands as the epitome of the omakase dining experience in Orlando. Leading the sushi scene in the city, it has consistently been the top choice for sushi aficionados looking to indulge in a lavish multicourse dinner. Its commitment to excellence was recognized in 2022 when it was awarded a Michelin star. Priced at about $300 per person, excluding beverage pairings and gratuity, the tasting menu might seem steep, but the dedicated husband and wife team behind this culinary gem ensure that each guest leaves fully satisfied with their seafood experience.
Soseki: After opening its doors, this self-described modern omakase restaurant by Chef Mike Collantes quickly distinguished itself by earning a Michelin star within just a year, a testament to its innovative approach to sushi and an array of both cold and hot tasting dishes. This restaurant is particularly special to me as it was my first foray into fine dining, and it has since been the backdrop for numerous celebrations with my wife. What keeps us coming back is not just the sentimental value but the ever-evolving menu, which changes every three to four months, offering something new and exciting with each visit. Adding to the restaurant's acclaim, their sommelier, Benjamin Coutts, was honored with the Michelin sommelier award in 2023, making their wine pairings a highly recommended addition to the dining experience. While the cost is around $250 per person, excluding gratuity and beverage pairings, it's important to note that prices can vary with their menu offerings, sometimes reaching up to $285 per person for their pre-fixe menus.
Natsu Omakase: While it might seem like this guide is leaning heavily towards sushi, I can't help but spotlight this new omakase restaurant that's quickly becoming known for offering one of the city's best values in nigiri tasting experiences. Unlike the pricier options like Kadence and Soseki, this place opts for a more straightforward, no-frills approach, which is reflected in its more accessible price point of $150 per person. But don't let the lower cost fool you; the quality here doesn't take a backseat. The menu evolves with the seasons, ensuring the freshest and most flavorful selections based on the availability of different fish. I've had the pleasure of getting to know Head Chef Stone, who previously showcased his talents at Soseki, and I can attest to the Michelin-quality experience that continues under his expert guidance.
Camille: This exquisite Vietnamese-French inspired fine dining venue masterfully combines the vibrant flavors of Vietnam with the refined techniques of classic French cuisine. The restaurant's interior is a sight to behold, striking a balance between elegance and modernity with a sleek color scheme that extends even to the smallest countertop appliances, ensuring a cohesive and visually appealing environment. The chef’s tasting menu, priced at around $195 excluding gratuity and beverage pairings, may vary with the seasons, reflecting the establishment's commitment to offering fresh and innovative dishes. This restaurant has carved out a distinct culinary identity within Orlando, presenting dishes that, while aesthetically aligned with Western cuisine, burst with the unmistakable taste of Vietnamese flavors in every bite, offering a dining experience that is both unique and unparalleled in the city.
Foreigner: This Nouveau American restaurant is a celebration of global flavors, meticulously prepared using locally sourced Orlando ingredients. The inspiration behind the head chef's culinary creations stems from the cuisine of his hometown, which he skillfully elevates to the heights of fine dining. The tasting menu is priced at approximately $195, not including gratuity or beverage pairings. I was particularly impressed by the head chef's accommodating nature; he graciously made last-minute substitutions to cater to dietary restrictions that I had failed to mention earlier. His willingness to adjust and ensure a seamless dining experience speaks volumes about the restaurant's commitment to guest satisfaction.
Kaya: This cherished Filipino restaurant has garnered what can almost be described as a cult-like following among local patrons. It presents a modern interpretation of Filipino cuisine at a more accessible price point of $120 per person. While it may not fit the mold of traditional fine dining establishments, it embraces the concept of a tasting menu within a decidedly more casual atmosphere. It's as close to a weeknight dinner spot as a fine dining experience can be, offering the added convenience of accepting walk-ins. This approachability, combined with its innovative take on traditional dishes, makes it a standout choice for those seeking an exceptional culinary experience without the formalities.
Capa: Shifting focus from the pre-fixe dining scene, Capa is a Michelin-starred Spanish steakhouse nestled within the Four Seasons hotel at Walt Disney World Resort. Diverging from the more exclusive dining experiences such as Victoria and Albert's, Capa welcomes families, complete with a kid-friendly menu. Although the culinary offerings here may not boast the inventive flair of other fine dining establishments on this list, it's an excellent choice for those craving a hearty steak or preferring the flexibility to select their own menu items. Capa represents a fantastic option for guests looking to enjoy a high-quality dining experience with the entire family in tow.
