Things to do in Lazio

  • Visit the Medieval Quarter of San Pellegrino: One of the best-preserved Medieval Quarters in all of Europe, this is a must-see for any history lovers. Walk the cobblestone streets and admire the ancient architecture.

  • Bathe as the ancient popes did at the Terme Dei Papi: In the 15th century, Pope Boniface IX was known to treat his “severe bone aches” with the thermal waters and mud found here. Now, the spa is modernized with towel service, lounge chairs and a restaurant.

  • Wander the gardens of the 17th-century estate, Villa Lante: A short ride from the walls of Viterbo lies a magnificent little estate called Villa Lante. The village surrounding it is also a great place to find local food and souvenirs.

  • See the Palazzo Dei Papi: As Viterbo was the location of the Papacy for some time in the 15th century, this palace was their home and the site of the famous papal conclave.

  • Join the locals for a Sunday "passeggiata": Sunday nights are Viterbo's dedicated social hour, window shop along Corsa Italia with the crowds.

  • Visit Il Parco dei Mostri di Bomarzo: Take a photo of the famous monster sculptures and enjoy the lush natural park.

Take a day trip to Civita di Bagnoregio, a jaw-dropping mostly abandoned 7th century pre-Roman village only accessible by walking bridge.
