Curator’s statement

The Amalfi Coast is undoubtedly one of the most booked areas of Italy due to its incredible hotels, restaurants, shopping and overall chic European vibes. While there are incredible towns to visit, making Sorrento your homebase will allow you to get the most out of your four days. Day trips to Capri, Positano, Ravello, Amalfi and other popular towns along the coast are easy to reach by way of Sorrento, and you won’t be short on things to do in this beautiful seaside town either.

Day 1: Arrive in Sorrento

The easiest way to reach Sorrento from popular cities like Rome or Florence is via train. Hop on a Trenitalia train down to Napoli Centrale, where you will meet your personal driver for a 45-minute transfer to Sorrento.

Check in to your hotel and then spend a few hours at the pool or wandering around the charming town before resting up for a day of exploring tomorrow. Grab an early dinner at the famous Il Buco - have your travel advisor book you a reservation in advance!

Day 2: Private Boat Trip to Capri

There are daily ferries from Sorrento to Capri that take only 20 minutes, but the best way to see the island and its surrounding waters is to take a private or small-group boat tour.

Meet your captain down at the port, accessible via a short lift for one euro, and board your traditional Gozzo boat to be whisked over to Capri, exploring the island's hidden grottos, including the famed blue grotto, along the way.

Disembark at Marina Grande for a few hours exploring the Isle of Capri: head to Anacapri to experience the famous chair lift for incredible views, or enjoy an afternoon of leisurely strolling along Capri’s high-end shopping street, Via Camerelle, after dining al fresco at one of the many restaurants in the area.

If you’re in the mood for an experience, pre-book a spot and spend a few hours at the popular La Fontelina Beach Club - your private boat captain can pick you up at their dock when it’s time to return to Sorrento!

Day 3: Explore the Towns of Positano, Ravello & Amalfi

You’re up bright and early to meet your personal driver for a tour of the Amalfi Coast today. Your first stop is Positano, which you’ll see first from a look-out spot to snap all the photos for Instagram that your heart desires. Spend some time shopping and exploring in the town before you enjoy a true farm-to-table lunch at Agricola Fore Porta in the Valle delle Ferriere of Amalfi.

After lunch, let your driver tour you around their favorite local spots in Amalfi and Ravello to get an authentic Italian experience.

Return to Sorrento to enjoy dinner at La Laterna.

Day 4: Traditional Sorrento Beach Club

It’s time to relax! Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel and and then head down to one of Sorrento’s beach clubs - Marameo Beach Club and Bagni Salvatore are great no-frills options that offer loungers, towels and food and drinks, in addition to beautiful views of the sparkling water and Sorrento cliffs. If you’re looking for a more luxurious spot, book a reservation at the Maya Beach Experience, a 15-minute taxi ride from Sorrento.

For your last evening, enjoy sunset cocktails at La Pergola Bar à Champagne in the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria before heading to dinner at the nearby Donna Sofia.

Day 5: Depart for Rome
