Curator’s statement

Mykonos is known as the “Island of the Winds,” which makes sense after visiting because it is so windy. It's also known for its gorgeous beaches, charming villages, and of course, nightlife and beach clubs. One thing to note: it is also one of the most expensive places to visit, so be aware of that when planning a trip to Mykonos! That said, it’s one of the most popular Greek islands and is a lot of fun.

Things to do on Mykonos

Windmills that stand in a row, overlooking the sea by Little Venice on a sunny day.
  • Mykonos Town/Little Venice: See the windmills, walk around, and go shopping in Mykonos Town. There are also so many cute restaurants right on the water front.

  • Beach Clubs: Mykonos is obviously known for its chic beach clubs. Spend the day at Scorpios, Nammos, or Super Paraside Beach Club.

  • Night out In Mykonos Town: If you're looking for a night out, I would recommend heading to Mykonos Town (also known as Chora). The most popular spots in Mykonos Town are: Negrita, and Cerise Bar.

  • Armenistis Lighthouse: Visit the Armenistis Lighthouse for gorgeous views of the island

  • Catamaran Cruise: My favorite way to see any coastal destination is by boat. Take a catamaran cruise and see Mykonos from the water.

  • Visit Delos: Take a 30-minute ferry to the archaeological site, Delos. There are ruins dating back to 900 BC.

  • Agios Stefanos Beach: Spend the day at the popular (and beautiful!) Agios Stefanos Beach.

  • Dine In Ornos: Have dinner in a seaside restaurant in Ornos. My favorite spot is Appagio!

Day trips

You can take ferries to nearby Greek islands like: Paros, Naxos, and Ios. All are under 2 hours.

Places to eat & drink on Mykonos

A large, round dining table overlooks the sea as boats cruise by on a sunny day at Nammos Mykonos.
  • Sakis: My favorite place to grab a gyro. The food is delicious! You can grab it to go, or sit in their outdoor area.

  • Appagio: Located in Ornos with tables right on the water's edge. In the outdoor seating area, they have string lights hanging down, and it looks so pretty at night. The food here is delicious, and reasonably priced considering it's Mykonos and on the water. They're most known for their fresh seafood. We had the absolute best Tzatziki here. We also got the shrimp linguini, fried fresh calamari, and mussels in saganaki.

  • 180 Sunset Bar: For dinner (and an amazing sunset spot), head to 180 Sunset Bar. We made reservations ahead of time around sunset, and it was such a great experience. Our reservation was for the 1st Row Windmill view and we had a minimum spend of $100€ / person. Each section usually has a minimum spend, but it’s not hard to hit the minimum (it’s Mykonos after all). 180 Sunset Bar sits on a hilltop overlooking the Aegean Sea and has gorgeous views of the island. The best part of 180 Sunset Bar is the sunset. They make it an experience and even time the sunset to a song. The sunset itself was amazing – and it felt so peaceful. After the sun goes down, a DJ starts playing in one of the lower areas and you can stay as long as you want.

  • Scorpios: This is probably what you think of when imagining a beach club in Mykonos. Scorpios is arguably one of the most popular (and fun) beach clubs in Mykonos.

  • Nammos: Another famous beach club and restaurant in Mykonos, known for its glamor and day parties, all set against the backdrop of the beautiful Psarou Beach.

  • Yialo Yialo: Laid-back beachfront restaurant in Mykonos, Greece, known for its fresh seafood, Mediterranean cuisine and stunning views of Platis Gialos Beach.

  • Kiki's Tavern: Located above Agios Sostis Beach, Kiki's is a charming, no-reservations restaurant. They're known for their grilled seafood and laid-back atmosphere.

  • Scarpa Bar: Trendy waterfront spot known for its fun nightlife, signature cocktails, and breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea.
