Where to stay

Unlock perks by contacting Hayley to book your trip.

Day 1: Arrive in Portland, Maine

Kennebunkport is a coastal town in southern Maine.

Arrive in Portland, Maine and drive to Kennebunkport. You are likely to arrive late afternoon so you can check into your hotel and refresh for cocktails. Enjoy a cocktail at your hotel before going to dinner at the hotel. Finish the night with smores by the fire.

Day 2: Gooch's Beach

A place to dine at Downtown Maine.

Wake up and walk to the Gooch's Beach. If you go before 9 am, you will see all the dog owners with their dogs. Dogs are allowed off-leash until 9 am during the week and it is busy with dogs. Enjoy watching all of the dogs play with each other on the beach. Spend the morning at the beach and enjoy the sunshine. Head to downtown for lunch and ice cream. Head back to your hotel for some afternoon pool time before getting ready for dinner. Head back to downtown Maine for dinner.

Day 3: Day trip

View of the sea in Freeport, Maine.

Take a short day trip to a neighboring town of your choice. Head to Freeport and visit the L.L. Bean Flagship store, or drive to York and explore Nubble Lighthouse. Make sure and find a great lobster shack to grab lunch at on your journey. Consider booking a whale-watching tour on this day.

Day 4: Southwest Harbor in Northern Maine

View from the porch at The Claremont Inn.

Drive to Southwest Harbor in Northern Maine for the remainder of your stay. Stop in Damariscotta, Maine for oysters on the way. Damariscotta is known for the best oysters in the area. My husband said it was worth the pit stop! Check into your accommodation for the next couple of days.

Day 5: Acadia National Park

Hiking is one of the things to do in Acadia National Park.

Wake up and visit Acadia National Park. There are several hikes to do in Acadia. Research which ones might be of interest to you. You can hike to Jordan's Pond and eat a popover — or secure your sunrise ticket to go watch the sunrise. Beehive hike is also highly rated for its views and unique climbing opportunities. Head back to the hotel and rest and have some clam chowder!

Day 6: Last day

Fish camp at Acadia National Park.

Take another visit to Acadia National Park or choose an activity to get you on the water. You can take a lobster boat tour, a sunset cruise, rent a kayak or try swimming in the cold water. Some call it a polar plunge! Enjoy the views for one more evening before packing up and flying out of Bangor, Maine tomorrow.
