Things to do in Coronado, California
Rent Electric Bikes
This is a great way to explore Coronado. Enjoy the 5-mile loop around the island (it’s actually a peninsula). Bike rental companies are plentiful (I like Holland Bikes & Beyond at the Ferry Landing) and they provide maps and locks. My advice is to stay off Orange Ave as the traffic makes bike riding a bit precarious.
Village Theater
Enjoy a movie at the Village Theater. Originally built in 1947, it was later renovated and had a grand re-opening in 2011. This historic theater, with its classic art deco details meticulously preserved, offers an intimate and truly nostalgic cinematic experience.
Del Beach
Indulge in the ultimate beachfront experience, basking in the Southern California sun on its expansive sandy shores while enjoying an array of beach rentals (such as cabanas and daybeds), providing the perfect spot to relax and take in the stunning Pacific vistas.
Ferry Landing
The bay side of Coronado is home to the Ferry Landing. Walk the boardwalk at dusk and enjoy the glittering lights of the downtown San Diego skyline. The ferry landing is also home to plenty of shopping and restaurants, including Coronado Coffee Company.
Shopping in Downtown Coronado
From 8th Street to Ocean Boulevard, Orange Avenue is the place to shop. Whether you’re looking for souvenirs or home goods, olive oil or earrings, there's something for everyone. Some of my favorites are Française Shop, Seaside Papery and Adorn.
Exploring the Hotel del Coronado
Built in 1888, you can spend a whole day just wandering around this iconic Victorian masterpiece. Explore the grounds and courtyards. Grab lunch or a drink, shop or take a historic tour.
Day Trip
Take a day trip to San Diego and explore Balboa Park or see the seals at La Jolla Cove.
