Ringing in the New Year is especially fun and exciting in Park City, an iconic North American mountain town. With its quaint Main Street boutiques, lively nightlife, acclaimed dining and cafés and a thriving art scene you will never be bored. There are plenty of options for New Year’s Eve activities in this winter wonderland — world class skiing and snowboarding, backcountry dog sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides — the perfect backdrop for families and couples! This itinerary is designed for a magical five day family trip to Park City but can be customized based on your preferences.

Day 1: Arrive in Salt Lake City
A day of travel can work up a healthy appetite. A favorite to satiate comfort food cravings is Burgers & Bourbon serving savory American classics like hearty burgers, fresh cut fries, hand spun shakes and craft spirits.
Wind down the first evening at my recommended resort, Montage Deer Valley Resort, a refined mountain retreat set amidst the wooded valleys and uncluttered slopes above Park City, Utah.
Day 2: Ski lessons and bowling
You must experience some of America’s finest slopes located atop Empire Pass with unrivaled ski in/ski out access from the resort. In the morning, novice skiers can head to the Wide West area near the Snow Park Lodge. This gentle terrain is separated from the more trafficked runs and serviced by two chairlifts and three conveyor lifts. Another option is Outside Compass Sports, an outdoor outfitter offering ski rentals, lift tickets and the latest ski accessories.
Lunch in Park City
Firewood on Main the majority of the dishes are prepared over an open flame using chef-selected wood-like cedar, cherry and maple to enhance flavors.
Take it easy
Walk off lunch or go window shopping around Main Street located in Historic Park City Utah before heading back to kick up your heels. It has been a long but fun day!
Dinner
Daley’s Pub & Rec has upscale bowling lanes and serves handcrafted brick-oven pizzas theatrically created in the pub’s own display.
Day 3: Kids’ dinner party & New Year’s Eve champagne toast
Ski lessons
You cannot beat the fantastic opportunity to put yesterday’s ski lessons to the test with another day of lessons on the gorgeous slopes of Park City. Today is going to end a little late so it will be good to preserve some of your energy to burn the midnight oil.
Relax before celebrating
After your lessons, take advantage of a luscious spa treatment at Spa Montage Deer Valley or lounge around your resort until the kids head over to the Winter Wonderland dinner party complete with entertainment, arts and crafts, face painting, laser tag, video games and a holiday film at Paintbox.
Dinner and champagne toast
The adults will enjoy their much-deserved romantic dinner at Apex, a celebration of classic continental cuisine in an unforgettable mountain setting, offering a relaxed yet refined dining experience. The evening is still young! Head over to Vista Lounge & Terrace for handcrafted New Year’s Eve cocktails and music. Ring in the New Year with a champagne toast!
Day 4: New Year’s Day ice skating & sleigh ride
Brunch in Park City
You deserve to sleep in this morning. When you’re ready to kick start the first day of the new year, head over to a local favorite, Eating Establishment, which serves apropos breakfast all day.
Ice skating
Caffeine-fueled and ready to play, bring the family to ice skating at Park City Ice Arena to work off the buttermilk pancakes and biscuits.
Sleigh ride and dinner
When you have had enough, it is time to round off the day with a horse drawn sleigh ride at Snowed Inn Sleigh Company located on the slopes of Park City Mountain Resort overlooking beautiful Park City in Utah's Wasatch Mountains. A gourmet dinner and live entertainment in a true western atmosphere awaits!
Day 5: Ski lessons & farewell dinner
Skiing and tubing
Like a pro! That’s what your friends will think the next time you are on the slopes. Make the best of this day on the slopes with ski lessons. For those who want to spend their time elsewhere, experience Utah’s longest tubing lanes at Woodward Park City.
Farewell dinner
Your memorable New Year’s family getaway will come to a close with a beautiful farewell dinner at Goldener Hirsch serving Bavarian specialties with farm-fresh regional fare sourced from local Park City pastures.
