You may be interested to find that some of the pyramids do not have a lot of inscriptions inside and the tunnels are fairly narrow. It’s a surreal experience to see something in person that you previously only read about in history books, making this one of the best things to do in Egypt.

There, you’ll learn how the temple was moved, piece by piece, from its prior island location to its current island location to avoid flooding from the Nile River dam. It’s a feat of both ancient and modern engineering.

Wander along the Avenue of the Sphinxes at Luxor

Over 1,000 statues line the Avenue of the Sphinxes between Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple. After over seven decades of restoration work, we now have the opportunity to walk along this magnificent avenue. I find it especially beautiful at night, when the statues are bathed in beautiful lighting.

Walk among the towering columns at Karnak

Karnak Temple is breathtaking. This ancient temple features over 100 towering columns. Walk slowly among these columns that stand 10 meters (nearly 33 feet) tall. You’ll be in awe of their size and beautiful hieroglyphics. Some of my favorite images of Egypt feature these stunning columns.

Relax along the stunning Mediterranean Sea in Alexandria

Many visitors miss visiting Alexandria, which was founded by Alexander the Great over two millennia ago.
