Curator’s statement

My mom read about a cluster of islands off the east coast of Italy in a Condé Nast Traveler magazine in the early 90’s. After our first visit to Le Isole Tremiti, we returned every summer for many years, foregoing all the other popular Italian seaside destinations. These islands do not offer the glitz and glamour of a 5-Star resort. Instead, they spoil visitors with crystal clear waters, world-class snorkeling and scuba diving, centuries of history, incredible sea views and the warmth and hospitality of the Italian locals.

Activities

Head towards the water - The island of San Domino has a plethora of coves that are easily accessible for swimming. Choose from Cala dei Benedettini, Cala dello Spido, Cala Matana, Cala degli Inglesi and more. If you prefer a sandy beach, Cala della Arena is close to the port and offers umbrella and chair rentals.

Go on a hike

Journey out to the old lighthouse at the southern tip of San Domino.

Explore San Nicola

Spend the day on the island of San Nicola and visit the Abbey of Santa Maria a Mare.

Go Shopping

Buy some locally made jewelry at Lo Scrigno or sporting goods at Il Greco Sport.

Tour the island

Choose a boat in the port for a giro of the Island and a visit to La Grotta Delle Viole.

Book scuba lessons or a diving excursion

In the waters off the uninhabited island of Capraia, snorkelers and scuba divers alike will find a submerged 10-foot-tall statue of Padre Pio. Marlin Tremiti is the local diving outfitter for all your equipment needs.

Have yourself a boat day

Book an excursion with Motonave Victor and spend the whole day on the water. Explore the islands by boat, stop for swim breaks in isolated coves, and enjoy a multi-course lunch of fresh catch and local specialties prepared onboard by the Captain and his crew (wine and limoncello included).

Lively bar by the port for that aprés-mare aperitivo – tell Alexander the bartender I say hi!
