Kampong Glam Street
Curator’s statement

Having lived in Singapore for over two decades, I’ve seen it evolve from a regional hub to a global city, making it deeply personal and uniquely fascinating. The blend of ultramodern architecture with traditional neighborhoods like Kampong Glam and Tiong Bahru creates a tapestry that reflects both the past and the future. Singapore’s dedication to greenery, from the iconic Gardens by the Bay to its many parks, allows urban life to harmonize with nature. Its exceptional culinary scene, where hawker fare rivals Michelin-starred dining, offers a sensory journey unmatched anywhere else.

Things to do in Singapore

An aerial view of Sentosa Island, with white sand beaches, white rocks, palm trees and a clear blue ocean surrounding it.

For a nature escape, hop on a cable car to Sentosa Island. You can relax on pristine beaches, visit Universal Studios or explore S.E.A. Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The island offers a mix of adventure and relaxation. For a cultural dive, wander around Chinatown or Little India, where the vibrant streets and temples, like Sri Mariamman, bring Singapore's multicultural fabric to life.

In the evening, take a night safari at Singapore Zoo to discover nocturnal animals or enjoy a sunset river cruise along Clarke Quay, sipping on tropical cocktails while admiring the shimmering skyline. As the day winds down, indulge in East Coast Park—a peaceful spot perfect for a beachfront bike ride or alfresco seafood dining at one of the many coastal restaurants.

Day trips

If you're in Singapore and want to explore neighboring countries for a day trip, here are some great options:

1. Johor Bahru, Malaysia: Just a short drive across the Causeway, Johor Bahru offers unique local markets, temples and theme parks. You can visit Legoland or explore the Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque.

2. Batam, Indonesia: A quick 1-hour ferry ride away, Batam is known for its beaches, golf courses and affordable shopping. Enjoy water sports or relax at one of the many resorts for a rejuvenating getaway.

Both destinations are perfect for a short escape
